Can you imagine how many rats there are in that patrick street site, ugh thousands,

i would guess trinity rooms isn't the only building affected.

Hope pest control is killing them all.

Time to demolish patrick street or rebuild it.

Hope trinity rooms staff get back to work soon.

In fairness, thats something i'd like to see my tax money going towards. That whole road is a kip. They can take Arthurs Quay too while they're at it! :p

Postpone king johns castle project, costing millions or billions.

Or we can ask a casino to invest :)

It is only when the area becomes a public hazard and/or dangerous. If the entire block where to catch fire, for example, then it would have to be taken down by the Insurance company.

What would we be left with then? Acres of Hoarding?

At the risk of being controversial, i do not have one bit of sympathy for those prats that own the trinity rooms. What goes around comes around. Bad kharma and all that. If they had not faught through the courts for years with the developers because they wanted to rob a piece of land, the centre would be long built and the city centre would not be a kip.

Although alot of those patrick street buildings are still in good nick

Something strange about it,surely Trinity/Granary have pest control systems in place?

Why did they voluntarily close it?They would make good money after the leaving cert is over.Bad P.R for a business and they would not discuss or make a comment

    Is the library closed aswell?

One thing i have to do
    > ROFL :D Ah the rats just wanted somewhere to party too. :D

Place was gone to dogs anyway!

Would say it was struggling to make money and the renovations that lasted all summer last year were a waste of time.

Change your settings in USERCP so that this is actually page 1. I have my options set so that I see 40 posts per page.

I'm sorry, I don't know this story. Where was the centre to be? Patrick St?

easy knock patricks stree and leave it as an open air car park until a developer is prepared to use the land. it would solve parking and it would get rid of that ugly mess

There was an open air car park where the Tax office is now. Massive it was.

You mean closing for the bones of a month? The only thing I noticed that was different was the position of the DJ box.... :P

They closed after the June bank holiday and didn't open back up til last August.

The box didn't move, they just extended it backwards so that the previous walkway around the back was closed off. Cloakroom was moved, as were a few bars.

Anyway, the whole place should be leveled and parking provided for a nominal fee of about 20/30c an hour. It would bring people into the city who would otherwise stay away because of limited spaces and relatively high parking prices.

Hell, I'd make a contribution towards the knocking of it.

Parking is 30c per hour in Castlebar actually in the public car park. I was shocked. I still didn't pay though. It was raining after all. Traffic wardens don't do rain. :D

this should bring 10 million rats into the city

In that case we should build the first monorail station on the site. :D

I reckon this could be a side effect of them filling in all the tunnels/arches/cellars under O'Connell Street and William Street. The rats have to go somewhere! There's mink down there too!

I'd no more believe the Rat Infestation story. I bet they'll be open again in September when the students return ;)

    rats...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 125 ✭✭roseagra

Normally I wouldn't be bothered by a club like shrooms closing (even though I've had a few good nights there) but bumped into some of the staff from there over the past week - people are leaving the country because of the jobs lost - it's might not be my favourite hot spot but it's fairly awful for the folks who might not have jobs to go back to......

I'm now trying to think of something useful to do with all those rats - do they like to run like gerbils? a massive rat wheel to power some of the city?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭Itsdacraic

If you open a business that close to city hall you're bound to get trouble with rats.

My brother's best friend has been working there for a while now. He went to Maryland on Monday. That's something he'd been planning for months. I wouldn't read too much into the stories yet. ;)

If I was trying to come with a reason for temporarily closing my business I would certainly use something other than a RAT infestation as an excuse.

Its in the post today they say the opera centre can become Limericks Temple Bar area with regards tax designations, seems like a good idea

Would these rats have anything to do with the power outage in town today :P

We'll see guys, I don't hear of any other business in the area complaining about Rats, I can't see how it would be unique to Trinity Rooms.

Rats. In the Granary. No way anyone could have foreseen that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭The Snipe

For some reason ive an image in my mind of rats running around in there getting smashed!

But on a serious note, it is a hit to the city all and all, and although there are no other businesses in the area complaining (There are other businesses in the area? Wow i musta been too drunk to remember, well i musta been to go to trinity rooms!) they may just not have known about it. Considering the age of the building overall, all the stale drink & food in the area, its at the riverside its not suprising they have rats to me, although the ammount is another question, but i dont know how many they have especially to call it an "infestation" if it was, id imadgine they would work damn hard to keep it out of press, and to get it sorted damn quick especially with the leaving finishing up, and mardi grais which would give them really good business.

Well thats just my two cents, correct me if im wrong at any point, please .
