What's the lowest calorie beer available in Ireland? (Full alcohol percentage not light beer).

Alcohol has calories, so full strength alcohol can't be low calorie. Guiness or light (colour) lagers would be the lowest.

And light beers (coors light, bud light etc) refer to the style of beer not the strength. They aren't lower than other beers

    I don't think so goat.......i did a bit of digging.........calories per pint......

    Guinness - 210

    Heiniken - 227

    Bud - 227

    Carling - 187

    Carlsberg Lager - 182

    Stella - 256

    Becks - 204

So for me it looks like Carlsberg might be the way to go.

Although there is a beer called Skol that is only 153 calories a pint which I think is available in some supermarkets.

are you sure thats per pint, and not per 330 can or something? Seems low across board?

    They look about right
All beer isn't that high in calories really, when compared to soft drinks and such.
The problem is the volume, 220 or so per pint isn't much, but a 10 pint session adds up

Done more digging and it seems that there is no definitive calorie count for Guinness but 170-220 seems to be most common.

Guinness is lower strength than most beers though so that would suggest fewer calories.

(Full alcohol percentage not light beer).
on this^ 'light' beers (bud light, coors light, bulmers light, etc.) have the same alcohol percentage as the normal beer, just fewer calories

    bulmers
    233 calories/pint
    bulmers light --160 calories/pint

Bulmers Light Contains 7% less calories than the leading light beer on the Irish market.

You might find this interesting: http://cdn2.mademan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/get-drunk-not-fat2.jpg

Although its americanised, it basically gives a list of drinks by least calories per unit of alcohol.

So if you're looking for the beer with the best calorie to alcohol ratio (i.e. lowest calories) it would appear to be Miller Light as its the only one that I recognise that is available here. (Unless you know of a place to get 'Natural Ice'?)

Really the light beers appear to be your best bet.
