Has to be Amy hudoyacaller. On every paper every day. Classier then Cheryl cole, but that is about as challenging as putting your socks on in the morning

Katie Taylor is smart, top of her game and doesnt look like she's been run over with the umpa loompa truck.

What could she possibly have on Cheryl Cole? \ Sarcasm filters required.

Katherine Lynch. I'm not up to date on who the "cool" people are but I'm sure everyone likes her.

Katie's face is already starting to look like a smashed cinema seat with all the boxing and her voice isn't exactly what you'd call sexy!

"Nations Sweetheart" is a term generated by PR and Marketing companies, used by the media to increase the profile of exceptionally uninteresting people who have little or no actual "value" to the nation.
There are far more worthy people in nations that deserve the same level of media attention and wealth generated as a result of it, however they don't have the same PR or Marketing people working for them.

Going on the amount of coverage given to their recent trauma, it would have to be tango tanned monstrosity on the left. She seems to have suffered the worst atrocity in Ireland since Pippa O'Connor fell off her horse.

Katie French, because she was a model and overdosed on cocaine. It's not her fault though, she just got some bad shit.

Well its pretty impossible for us to have a national sweetheart since as soon as one of us does well, they are immediately pilloried, bemoaned, begrudged and generally slagged off by the rest of us.

We don't have one. We'll probably never have one. I think at one stage Sonia O'Sullivan might have been? Rosanna Davison is too disliked by so many people to ever be it. I'd like it to be Imelda May.....maybe Saoirse Ronan could be if she continues to do well? She seems like a little brat though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

    Katie Taylor

It was Michelle de Bruin at one stage but that certainly ended sourly
And then Cian O'Connor and his beautiful girlfriend were held up as a dream couple. Drugs again ended that

Maybe we don't want to be disappointed again

She is no brat, she just has incredible confidence in herself. Not that usual in Ireland

Saoirse Ronan? Id say her or Katie Taylor. A lot of people being mentioned are barely known outside of Leinster rugby circles.

Also someone was very unfairly critical of Katie Taylor shes an inspirational sports figure and comes across as being intelligent, sensible and even though a boxer, pretty.

Would have said at one stage it was Sonia O'Sullivan and before that Sinead O'Conor.
