Focus on at least two of the guaranteed q6's...I never did Social Change because apparently it's marked very hard, so I'm doing Political Developments in Ireland and International Relations. You might as well stick with Social Change now though! If you like 6A though, I'd recommend doing it.

Industrial Revolution is likely to come up as a q5 this year, it's not guaranteed though, but it's probably the best thing you could be studying out of that. Obviously if you wanted to be certain about answering q5 well, you'd need to go over the whole 2nd year section but it's a bit late for that. :p For People In History - revolutionary leader/reformer/explorer/monk in an early Irish monastery haven't come up in a while!

Do the Cuban Missile Crisis, trust me, you'll be thanking me on Wednesday, after it comes up.

Very interesting topic, and you are bound to know some stuff abou it already.

Doesn't that usually come up alongside the Berlin blockade and the Korean war?
I'm praying the Berlin Blockade comes up in Q6 D, I know so much about it :pac:

Cold war is most likely to be 6D and probably an essay id focus on mostly 3rd year work, explorations is unlikely in Question 4,5 and 6. Reformation could come up in Q4+5 but Industrial revolution and rural ireland is alost certain Q5, age of revolutions (France and America) is another one for Q5. For Q6 I'd stick with C+D as they're guaranteed to come up and pretty easy stuff to learn. I'm going to be wary of timing so your best to do short Q's as they'll get you going but do Q6 close to the start DON'T leave them to the end as they're worth 1/3 of the marks and should take 20-30 mins for each question. Leave pics and docs to the end, they're pretty basic and short anyway

revolutionary leader came up last year. I'd look at a person in ancient Ireland, and a painter outside of italy as well as a one in Italy.

Q6 C and D are always 20th century Ireland and international relations. Make sure you know a cold war crisis. I'd learn 2 just incase.

For Question 5, I'm nearly certain it would be The Reformation, but most say Ireland and Englnd 1850's. Learn both.

Usually they do appear under one part of Q6. I think it's good to know extra stuff (though I wouldn't go out of my way to do this just for the exam), as they can only mark you for extra for it.

    Thanks for all your replies.

So, if i learned maybe 7 possible things for Q4,
The industrial revolution and the reformation for Q5,
and political ireland(whick i know well) and social ireland for Q6,
    should i be ok?

I have never been good at history so i would settle with a c or b

I would imagine so. If you want, so something on WW II or after (as I said Cuban Missile Crisis is my fave), you should be fine!

Yes, but it repeats itself quite often.

Alright, don't do 1st year history study. Know the 3rd year course as well as the reformation, revolutions and the industrial revolution.

The people in history you need to know:
    1. Monk in early Christian Ireland
    2. Renaissance artist/sculptor
    3. Ancient Roman person
    4. Named explorer (Columbus is best)
    5. Named reformer (Luther is best)
    6. Worker in factory in industrial revolution
    7. Irish revolutionary 1916-23 (Collins or De Valera)

    Good topics to know:
Social Change or 20th century political change (know the other vaguely as backup plan)
World war 2 (Operation Dynamo, Barbarossa and Stalingrad in particular)
Cold war (1 crisis, Korean I find has most information to write about and you could have 10 SRS's from that crisis)
    Industrial revolution
    revolutions
    Reformation
    Mussolini's political achievements
    Hitler's treatment of the jews

Heading for an A hopefully, got 89 in the mocks with a tough marker.

And remember, they aren't looking for spoof, they are looking for facts. A 2 page people in history can get 15 marks while one page can get 20.

Yes, but it repeats itself quite often.

It came up people in history last year. Every year it comes up people in history of Q6.

The social change question isn't marked hard, it's answered badly.
People think they can spoof it and come out with crap like the 20th century seeing the start of steam travel and enclosure of land.

I plan on spoofing it if the 20th century politics in Ireland question doesn't suit me.

It is mostly common sense though. :pac:

The textbook Timeline's 20th Century changes section is a joke.... It's got barely any facts, with the bread and butter of it being... Waffle, ironically.

Our history teacher (who unlike some of our other teachers) gave us fantastic bulletpointed notes which are pure facts which have me covered for cold war crisis, people in history and some elements of social change. Womens rights, rural life, urban life and transport and communications are covered. There are also revision questions + sample answers for every chapter, and quite a lot of them too (I would say there are around 700 revision questions covered) in 16 pages. I reckon he could copyright and sell these.

Fancy photocopying them and posting them out to me? :L

The way to prepare for the social change question is to go and talk to your granny about what she remembers hearing her mother and father telling her.
    Seriously.

I have a feeling a Renaissance painter outside of Italy could make an appearance (really hoping inside Italy comes up though, love Da Vinci)...I know Pieter Breugel, just because the pictures of his paintings in my book are so nice, but I don't think I can get 8 SRS marks out of him... :/

Hmmmm but I really really like Pieter Breugel's paintings :L Thanks for the offer, but if he comes up I'll wing it, I found if I elaborate on some of the sketchy points given in the book I get in a few decent points, and I did some wiki-ing. Also, if I do get a choice in that question, I'd hopefully be able to do one of the other two. :) And I'm still hoping for da Vinci...

The Illuminati seems to be cropping up a lot in recent years, you should definitely revise it.

The whole exam had subliminal Illuminati references is it. Do you remember Adam Weishaupt came up in people in history? You do, don't you?
