You constantly post on at least one football forum?
    Guilty!
You are constantly checking web sites for news of your team and then other teams?
I do this so much, that I actually bought a smart phone just to get my fix of http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Premier+League when out following the wife around Tesco's, visiting friends or at work
You buy at least the new home shirt
You then buy the new home shirt for your kids even though they are a/girls and b/hate football
You have a football net in your garden and at least 5 footballs, 1 with the club crest on it (Again, even though you have girls) (You also make the girls practise penalties!)
Your car is convered in "I'm following my team" stickers etc.
Your wife's car is also sporting a few discreet stickers
You arrange as much of your life around either going to matches or watching live tv.
(Birthdays, weddings, confirmations, have all been "discussed" with the missus when they clash)
Your family budget includes at least 3 home games!
You will only go to pubs that show live TV
You play FIFA with your current team against the team you are next to play
You play in at least 1 Fantasy Football league
You have at least one old football injury
You had a trial for Luton or someother lower league team and like to tell everyone about it (Even though you failed - see afore mentioned "injury"
You have intimate knowledege of your clubs finances and almost understand the homegrown rule and the new financial fair play rules
    You know Ryanair's European destinations!
You have a mate who's a lower league supporter and constantly moans about the over rich clubs who have ruined football

Anyone got any interesting "football addiction" storys to tell?
Missing weddings or missed planes back for work etc?

Your family budget includes every match in the season!
You know Ryanair's European destinations only if they happen to be in the Champions League or Europa League!

    Fixed!

Just read Fever Pitch, great book and in comparison to Nick Hornby, most people's interest in football pales into insignificance

You go to more than 5 or 6 football matches every year

Fancy having a mate like that. It would be like having leprosy.

God I hate when that happens. If only I could get my football fix in Ireland, ya know head out on a Friday night after work and be home in my bed by 11. If only.

On Cup final day you wear a suit to the pub

    Meh I'll guess.
3 games a year and claiming to be addicted to football? Yet he refuses football that's on his doorstep.
Who should be ashamed of who, mate.

    Ha, another LOI nazi.

Well if the 3 games is because you choose to go to another country to watch football that's one thing
If it's you support your local club and are out of work and can simply only afford three games - that's different.
If it's the latter I apologise. If it's the former it's different

I'm sorry but you cannot claim to be addicted to football if you ignore local football and choose to pay thousands to watch 3 games a season.

You LoI fundamentalists should do everyone a favour and get your own forum. 95% of the people that post here watch Premier League football, many watch football from Spain, Italy and South America. The fact they don't attend LOI games does not make them any less a fan of football.

Not as such but the fact that they don't attend games regularly does.

We've been begging for our own sub-forum in here for years - attempts have been futile.
I'm a Bohs fan. I love watchin EPL and La Liga as well. The football there is unrivalled. No doubt the best in the world. Going three times a year doesn't make you addicted to football. It's more ' If I spend thousands to watch a match it'll convince myself that I'm addicted to football'.
It mightn't make you less of a fan but you certainly cannot claim to be addicted to football if you ignore all forms of football bar the best football in the world.
Also, the 'nazi' comment of yours was really infantile. Nazis attempted to take over the world and attempted to wipe out the jews. You think I do that too by supporting a LOI team?

Then you prioritise as is appropriate and sensible. But having done so don't make threads about how addicted to football you are.

I can't afford a BMW, therefore I have a cheaper car that still gets me to my destination.
In other words, I can't go to EPL. I love football however, so I will go to the LOI which is still football

Whats the difference between watching football on tv and watching football live? Both games last 90 minutes.

If I spent my days sitting at home drinking whiskey, week in week out, does that make me an alcoholic? Or do I have to go down and support my local pub to be considered a true alcoholic?

If you really don't know the answer to that then you are proving you aren't really a football "fan" as such.

When you attend a match you do so with thousands of others, you feel a certain camaraderie with your fellows fans, you savour the atmospere of the crowds singing and chanting, you feel part of the game. Watching a game on tv is just that - watching, then at the end of it Jamie Redknapp will tell you what to think. There really is no comparison.

Lol, so now you need to be playing in the matches to be a real football fan.

In fact, if your suggesting its better to be sitting there watching two people have sex than watching porn, I guess that makes you a pervert?

Yes actually for a football fan it is all about attending as many games as possible. For an armchair supporter it might be different. It doesn't make me feel good about myself however it is the truth whether you like it or not.

Thanks Stumpypeeps, that was it exactly, just a bit of irrelevant and silly fun, mainly poking fun at myself at the amount of time I spend online checking for news of men who play with round balls
I'e learnt that online as well as in life, you have to accept that when you try and make a contribution, no matter how small and irrelevant it is, theres always going to be people with absolutely no sense of humour or people with their own head so far up their asses, they just cant see anything beyond their own smelly self importance
Still, live and let live eh? ;)

Your a real fan, I get it. I suppose you make no distinction about who you go to watch then? Because if you only follow one team, then your a fan of that team and not a real football fan who attends all games, at all levels home and away. Thats a real football fan.

Well as you asked I am a fan of Shamrock Rovers and try to go to every game they play. My mate coaches a junior football side and I also go to see them play a lot. When I travel abroad I always try to take in a match involving the local side and have been to many lower league games in England and Scotland as well as a few EPL games and have seen games at various levels in Spain, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, Italy and Australia. I also play 5 a side every Thursday night.

Well it doesn't make sense to me how someone can claim to be a football addict who doesn't actually attend football matches. It's like claiming to be a heroin addict without actually taking heroin!
