Personally I'm just learning verbs and the past Ausserungs. Practising a few letters too. I'm confident enough about my vocabulary at this stage. Especially after the oral.

I'd make sure to learn Rezession, given the IMF stuff.

I'd also gladly eat my shoe if the word "Eurovision" doesn't come up on Friday.

! Someone in my class said that a few weeks ago. It'd be just like something they'd put in the letter.

'Cos they've put stuff like September 11 in before.....

Hmmm... Any ideas for the grammar sections? Our teacher is really focusing on relative pronouns and the subjunctive

ohhh i'm so screwed for german! didn't start revising yet!

Eurovision was only a while ago and dont they set the papers ages back anyway? Doubt it would be up so soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 Steve!

There was stuff from March 2011 in the Business paper. I'd rule nothing out. It'd be very vague if it did come up anyway.

Yeah I have a feeling that something on the Eurovision will come up, and that it will be related to tourism in the country, and then in Ireland too. It might be like did you watch it? What did you think? Its good tourism etc. Whats good for tourism in Ireland maybe?

Es geht der Irischen Wirtschaft ganz schlecht - The irish economy is very bad at the moment.

Die Wirtschaftkrise hat die ganze Welt erfasst. - The economic crisis has gripped the entire world.

Die Regierung kann den Kopf nicht in den Sand stecken- The Government cannot hide their head in the sand!!

What was in the business papers from March??

    The topics i'm studying are:
    - Economy (Homelessness, Unemployment)
    - Environment
    - Attitudes towards others (Old People, Young People, Foreigners etc)
    - Health (Obesity, etc)
    - Social Problems (Drug abuse, Alcoholism Bullying etc)

I think if you knew a bit on all of these you should be fine.. these aren't predictions! They are just what I'm studying!

For the grammar i'd say it'd be something on either relative pronouns/ question words and changing verbs from one tense to the other! Its impossible to predict comprehensions and Auserungs as they can be on anything!

Unemployment rates. Just goes to show how late they can leave it nowadays.

The one thing I'm worried about is the listening exam. The news report at the end is always some mad thing and somehow I end up getting **** marks in the aural, despite scoring well on the written and oral :/

Best phrase I have- "Du bist ein Glückspilz!", translates literally into you are a lucky mushroom. Same way we might say "You lucky bugger" or something. I've never done a letter in which it didn't come in handy :D

We were handed notes on racism and immigration and were given very knowing looks about how oh perhaps these might be useful. Who knows...!
You never know with that German department though.

    Good input, man! :pac:

I love the lucky mushroom thing, it's like the French phrase 'Mon petit chou' - My little cabbage.

    OR

'Das Leben ist wie ein Kinderhemd--kurz und beschissen' - Life is like a child's shirt--short and crappy.

Thought I'd stick in an SEC-esque choice there.:cool:
