    Never heard of them.

I was in today. They just started on Tuesday - he said it was supposed to be as close to the adverts way of doing things as possible - buying and selling guitars and amps. All the stock is his own vintage collection that he's selling off! He said that he was gonna get a leather couch put in so its like walking into your living room for a jam. I think I'll be going there very often now for a nose at what's in and to talk shíte.

I was blown away when I was talking to him about my guitars and what I've bought and he instantly knew my adverts username and the username of the people I've bought certain stuff off. Looks like it's gonna be a very cool little shop

I couldn't find this yesterday, anyone have the exact location?

    Sounds like a great place.

I too looked, but couldn't find it. :(

People haven't been able to find it because it's on Aungier street, not George's street. It's about two doors up from where Danfay was. Really nice guys in there, some quality gear and a lovely shop. Best of luck to them :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

    Ahh, there ya go.
I even asked in Music Maker and they told me Dorset Street...

Can't wait to have a look in there.

Edit: Do you go up as far as DBS or is it closer to the Georges Street end?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,635 CMod ✭✭✭✭Ravelleman

It's about 30 metres up from the Aungier Street sign at the end of George's Street.

Nice shop, cool concept and the owner is a sound chap. Hopefully the stock will be rotating nicely over the next few months.

Like quicklickpaddy said, he might even know you if you're on adverts.

    It is.... now !!!.

They have obviously updated it, as there was no location information or phone number (just an email address) when I last checked the site yesterday.

    Thread title updated.

I believe it's run by a Boardsie! Was in yesterday, it was radical! Lots of nice kit.

    Not many that I remember...

There was one Duesey Starplayer that looked nice though, if that's your thing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,817 ✭✭✭✭Dord

The Duesy was the only semi that I saw also. Very nice guitar and good price on it too!

Now, I don´t want to ruin this guy´s business, but given that that is precisely what it is, I think that he should out himself and get a proper merchant´s account on adverts.ie. He´s a very nice guy and I wish him well but in the interest of fairness towards the other shop owners using the site and most of all towards the private users that may well be selling gear to him, which he will then sell for a profit on his premises, this is something that should really happen.

Without this kind of transparency, adverts.ie could well be ruined.

Many of us may well know the username behind the shop but I imagine that there are more that do not.

Obviously not all of his stock will be coming from adverts.ie but if businesses are using the site, the rules should be the same for everyone.

I think it´s worth commenting on this here given that it is really a community based website, albeit one that is ultimately expected to turn a profit for daft.ie, or whoever owns all these sites.

That GT you sold me a few years back is one of the nicest guitars I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Usually a strat guy but I've definitely become more comfortable with the lester. Cheers M8 and keep rockin'

Love this shop. Amazing gear. Was in earlier for a poke around. Had a good chat. If you want a quality classic guitar or amp. This is the place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 276 ✭✭zafo

Been well impressed the times I've been in for a gander over the last few weeks. Wish I was on the market for new gear as I'm loving a lot of the stuff in there.

Popped in today, I seriously am weak at the knees for the pre-fender gretsch white falcon with bigsby bridge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭population

Went in yesterday. Some beautiful stuff and I echo the pangs of jealousy for the White Falcon!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,635 CMod ✭✭✭✭Ravelleman

White Falcons are indeed nice but I prefer post-Fender Gretsches.

I had no interest in this place until I heard that Dub is the man behind it,I'll probably be in tomorrow! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,355 ✭✭✭punchdrunk

well I took a gander today, and I have to say already even at this humble beginning it's the best guitar shop in the city centre (although that's not exactly hard is it?) nice and airy, plenty of room and a nice chilled out "living room" vibe to it
Dublin should embrace this shop with open arms,as somebody who's been to Guitar shops all over Europe I can say we've been in the dark ages of music retail in Ireland for a long time
compared to say Oslo,London or Paris we were left with shops that were a bit of a joke.finally this is something to look forward to visiting!

some very tempting guitars in stock (maui blue international strat!) ,some so nice that i stopped myself from even picking them up for fear the credit card might suffer financial GBH

    Dub,you've outdone yourself chief
hope we can do some business in the future!

(can we get a kettle in for customers!!?? with maybe a strict bring your own jaffa cakes policy :D)

I think Owen has a terrific shop here, and one that EVERYONE should check out, some great stuff and a knowledgeable and friendly guy at the helm. Just wanted to add that as someone who's visited shops in all those cities, I've found two in London I enjoy visiting, and have yet to fine one in either Paris or Oslo that is space aged compared to the ones in Dublin. Believe it or not, we have some great shops in this country. Lets stick to discussing this great new store and not knocking other people.

Full agreement with the above two posts, go in fall in love and figure out where you're gonna get the money together for a new guitar, haha.

It seems a great shop alright, and good luck to the guy. However, on the two occasions I called, there was only three basses on display. I know it's early days yet though. :)

Did you play the Hofner? I'm not really a bassist but I loved that one. The tone pots were crazy sensitive and it felt awesome to play
