So i didnt even make it a day without running. I Had no intention of going for a run today until i sat down to watch TV, no surprise there was nothing on which led me to getting bored, my legs felt allright and out the door for 12 miles. They felt really easy which surprised me somewhat. Happy i did it as it was a great evening for it.

    12 miles in 1:47:21

    Avg Pace 8.53 min/mile

I decided that today would be the day that i do the marathon talk mile challenge. I taught i would get at least six minutes but took off at a crazy speed and fell across the line in 6.20. I will try it again later in the week and pace myself proper

I have been feeling quite iffy the last couple of days so i decided not to do any running to be safe. So i went out and did the warriors run road section today stuck to my plan of running comfortable hard to the well entrance on the glen road then walk to the turnoff but i walk about 50 yards before i took off again. Felt really good for doing this i will prob do it in the race. I did it in 58 mins 40 secs would have been quicker only i got stopped by someone asking me directions. I told him i was training and i could not stop but he didnt take the hint so i stopped anyway.

Couldn't do an LSR yesterday so i did it today. I enjoyed this run, the hardest thing about this run was keeping it between 9 min and 9.5 min pace as i wanted to go faster. The best thing about this run was i put a cap on. it was raining when i started and never stopped but it was warm. Legs feel good now. Around 12 mile the hunger hit me and made the last 3 miles harder.

DID 4 miles at 8.10 pace felt terrible, i didn't like running on the grass in the racecourse it just zapped the energy from my legs. after four miles i decided to stop because i would probably get an injury if i kept plugging away.

    SAT 20 AUG

I did the old warriors course on sat. I found the last 2 miles tough as i ran out of energy ate F all before the run hence why energy levels were sapped. I did the run in 90 mins 9.33 miles.

I was at a stag on the sat night and the guy that is getting married is getting married the weekend of the dublin city marathon. So i am not sure if i can run the marathon now. I will asses it after the warriorns on sat.

So i am just back in the door from doing the warriors run. The weather was great so it was going to be a tough run back as i am not a fan of running in the heat.

I spent Friday at a wedding which i wasn't going to drink at but i decided to drink until the dinner, the dinner came and went and i was still drinking. So first thing this morning i was supping water like there was a drought coming because of this i said i would aim for 1.30 ta 1.35 i wasn't going to aim for a PB and have the wheels come off.

I got into strandhill at 2.30 and ran to the start line for a bit of a warm-up and stretch. I went into the pack and had a look around and noticed i was right up the front '' get the hell back'' i told myself which i did few more rows. The countdown started and we were off.

I found the first mile hard to go slow but i managed a 7.55 mile which i was happy with not to fast or slow.

The second mile was faster but since we had the big run down culleenamore i told my self not to worry about it as it was expected the mile time was 7.16.

The third mile was interesting as we had the run up the glen to contend with as the guy next to me said '' now the fun starts''. I made it up the first section reasonable easily but had to pull over soon after and walk as i began to feel the affects of last night. I began dry wetching and praying i wasnt going to get sick which i didn't. I wasn't to pushed about it and started a run walk stradegy until we turned off the road. 3rd mile in 16.27.

The fourth mile was where i realized how slow i am at walking up the mountain.I went past a guy i know running i was about 30 mt in front of him at one stage when we came to a steep section where it was walk time. Now i wasnt breathing that heavily and felt strong but he comes flying past me walking like so many others and takes a 30 - 40 mt gain on me. WTF!!!! that is something that i will have to look into for next year. Did that mile at 15.56

Mile five was fun the DESCENT i didnt go all out down as there was too many people in front of me so i kinda went left on the way down and kept away from people did this mile in 8.55 i look at my watch just after the turn left after the mountain and it said 57 mins which was 2 mins slower than where i wanted to be at that stage but wasn't worried.

Mile 6 was 7.55 nothing too eventful legs were getting tired after this.

Mile 7 was tough and came in at 8.39

Mile 8 and the pain was getting worse. Managed a 8.02 mile but had to dig deep.

Mile 9 was 0.73 of a mile and did that in 5.39 but that was digging so deep i taught i would hit OZ.

So after drinking for 9 hours yesterday i managed to knock off 2 mins from last year. hmmmmm that doesnt make any sense.

I like to call that the "Paul McGrath" syndrome! Making up for last nights antics by playing a blinder. My junior soccer career is entirely based on it! Fair play tho, a lot of people would back out after a night of drinking.:)

I have decided to concentrate on getting my 10km training down to as close to sub 40 mins in the next year.

Time to start logging again. So what have i been up to since my last post, i was injured up until a few months ago, (dont underestimate not stretching before running up stairs). I slowly got back into running doing the odd run here or there but not as much as i would like. I went back running with a plan last week, My runners didnt fit right so i got a couple of big blisters on either foot. I changed my runners to an old pair and that seem to do the trick as no more blisters.

    The Plan For 2012

Sub 45 10km. Thats it at the min. I am aiming for The NorthWest 10km in letterkenny in may to do this.

If i achieve that then i will concentrate on the warriors run with doing the race series half in sep after it.

I should really have put in what i did on sunday in my last post.

    Sunday

15 km in 1:28:56. It was a fairly flat course apart from the hill at the end of every 5 km. It was not a big hill, but 2-3 months of no running and the hill was like a mountain.

    Monday

8 km in 47:04 I am amazed how quickly it gets dark when i am running in the evening, i dont really notice it getting dark. it's like someone turns of the light.

I am going to suss out some pilates classes for my days off. I never do core work and i think it i will be a great benefit to me. There is an open evening next week so i am going to go and give it a bash.

Todays run was 12 km, i wanted to keep my heart rate low < 155. As yesterdays avg Heart rate was 164 way to high for an easy run.i need to learn that not every training run needs to be an all out run. I acheived this, avg heart rate was 153.There was a hill at the end of the run which nearly killed me according to the garmin it is 58meter Gain. Last year i was running up it barely sweating. Hate Injuries they ruin what u have built up:mad:.6 months time and i will be flying up it again

    DISTANCE 12KM AVG PACE 6.21 TIME 1:16:27

    FRI 13 JUN

5 km run. I really enjoyed this run nice and relaxing. Just a 5 km Loop round the the back roads of where i live. I didn't think i would get this run in as fri evening i was running about the place ( pardon the pun ) trying to get everything done before it got dark.

I must invest in some reflective running gear.

    5 km avg pace 5:19 min/km

    Today

I was out last night for a few pints of creamy Guinness, if i didn't have to get up early and drive to letterkenny i would not have made this run as i would have stayed there all night suppin.

8 km run today round the roads of Donegal. The in-laws have a lovely 10km route the circles around. I ran 4 km and turned around and came back. Happy with this run.

Legs feeling great now for the last few runs blisters all healed up.

    8km run in 42:18 avg pace 5:17

17.01 km today average pace 5:43 km/ min.

I felt i could run all day at this pace. I started my run and after a few hundred meters i checked to see where my Heart Rate was and it was at 186. Now first thing that came into my head was i should be passed out on the kerb. I felt fine so i looked again after the first km and it was up on 191. I tried to fix the strap but couldnt so i just took it off. I will have to keep an eye on how i put the strap on next time.

Get in there just got a message from my FOOTMOB app walcott just after scoring. Why is this good news to a Man Utd Supporter. Well he is in my Fantasy Football team and i will take the lead in the league in work :D:D:D:D

I was meant to do some yoga yesterday but never got round to it. Must try harder.

Today i did 7 km avg 5:26 min / km. I felt really strong on this run until the last km. I forgot to my water bottle today before i left the house for work and only managed to put in 1-2 cups of water at lunch. So my hydration levels were poor.

I seen the bravest / stupiest thing on my run today. There was a guy walking two big huskie dogs and a woman with some small furball. As soon as the furball got close enough to the huskie dogs, it made a dart for them. Only that both owners had the dogs on a leash the furball would have been a light dinnear for the other two.

13 k today. It was a nice evening for it. I noticed that i was losing alot of time on the hills, so i concentrated on form when i was running up the hills high knees and pumping my arms. It worked a threat.

    Fri 20 Jan.

Just an easy 5 km. I started to get pains down the inside front of both my lower legs. I got these before so i knew how to treat it.

    Sat 21 Jan.

7.2 km and the pain in my legs from the previous day was back but i wasnt worried about it. Then at 6 km it started to get worse and every step was painful. Decided to stop at 7.2 km incase i did any more damage and just massaged the areas later that night.

    Sun 22 Jan.

Did 2 KM today legs still sore. Look's like i need to buy another pair of runners with more cushion and support. I 'll do that tomorrow and wont run till wednesday, but will keep massaging the sore area and hopefully i will be allright.
