Thought I'd make an offical looking thread for this one! :p
ANYWAY, I've had an awful maths teacher for the past year so I basically can't do anything anymore. I'll have to try cramming a bit tonight but it's fairly pointless at this stage I think. :L

Anyone have tips on how I can get as many attempt marks as possible? (:

I'm quite confident about this - am I right in thinking that there's little to no trig in Paper 1?

I was one of the best in my class at maths up through until third year and found maths really enjoyable. This past year I've fell really behind. Paper 1 should be okay-ish tomorrow, paper 2 on the other hand... Should be fine for a C though, a B if I'm lucky.

    Awesome :D

I love algebra and tax, so the paper should be OK.

Im so odd... I love Maths, thinking about getting to do maths on friday was all that kept me going through english and irish :L
I am completely prepared for maths, ive done all the paper 1's in my exam papers (2010 - 2003 and 7 sample papers) and then i did the 2001 and 2002 papers too (even though theyre different it was a good way to get me thinking differently :L)
Hope we get a nice paper :L

    Good Luck everybody :L

I've been breezing through the exams so far, but I'm going to crash and burn on maths tomorrow.:(
    I'm well and truly DOOMED

Looking forward to this, I guess. Confident of the A - 93% in paper one in the Pre.

Hope functions don't feature too match. I can do the ones where you have to make out a table and graph but not general questions. I hope the quadratic equation is easy too. And I hope that thing where you have to write an expression for the area/perimeter doesn't come up. And I hope that surds, indices and all that crap doesn't come up in question one. Oh, or the thing where you have to sub in t or something and find two values.

I hope it's an easy paper like Irish and English paper ones.

I'm not really stressed at all, but I should have done a little more work tonight. I did two maths questions which is the first I've done in a few days. I feel slightly compelled to get an A seeing as my mother teaches it. :p

I've decided to work through the paper slowly and carefully as I flew through it with an hour to spare in the mocks and made lots of small mistakes. My average for paper 1 was three questions per 40-minute class, so slowing down shouldn't hurt. :p I need to have a glance over indices, just that surd multiplication thing. I actually understood it last week, just need to refresh my memory now! And I quite like functions now, I somewhat enjoy the trickier C parts. I actually like nearly everything on paper 1, especially algebra.

Ha, I love paper 1! I've never felt as confident for an exam before, it'll probably be terrible now. :o

    lol Ordinary Level.

I'm gonna have a stab at 100 % . Past papers are painfully easy. Surely there should be some other level in between?

I called it! : Ordihigher Level, or Highrdinary level?

Walked out of OL after about 45 minutes. I think a high B so far, like I was expecting. Factorising suxx :( .

Eassssssssssy. Well, everything going brilliantly up till Q6 c) which I couldn't do at all. Other than that, a walk in the park. Provided Paper 2 isn't harder than it already it is, I got at least a B secured :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Indiego

    that was so easy!!!! :O
I finished the exam in an hour, checked over everything 10 times, had a nap, checked everything again, and walked outta there at 3:45 :0
I was the only h.l student to leave early, and they were all like wtf!? when I left :L
q6 c was hard enough, I knew the answers, but I didn't know how to get them, so I kinda made up my own way in scribbled writing :L
I wrote all my answers on my paper so if I have any doubts I can check :L woooooo hope paper two goes as well :L

lol OL was simply put a joke, how someone does not achieve a high A on it is beyond me. If Paper II is that easy.... Oh wait, it's even easier!

I might have done something really stupid, but I checked about five times over and over again, and I flew through it in about an hour, so...

 < that's not intented to be rude btw. Maybe because some people just can't grasp maths? Like me,for instance. I did foundation(as someone who has been absolutely disastrous all my life) and found it pretty impossbile. Some people just CANNOT do maths.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭Desire.

That was grand... I got an A! :pac:

Didn't get the answer to two questions but I did the right method so I'll get a few marks.

I managed to do 6C. I was shocked since Functions are my worst topic in maths. I actually couldn't do part i or ii... and when I was doing iii, I figured out ii... and then I was able to work out i. :)

    6C, i, was (0,1) and (0,3), k was -1, if anyone is wondering.

Ah. No offence intended. It's most likely due to the fact I did HL, but could only just about pass. My reason for going OL is that I'd (and my parents also) would pick an A on OL over 55 or so on HL, which I'd be lucky to achieve.

PS- Why the hell did I come up with a straight line on Q6 (ie, linear)??? I realized just there it should have been a curve.

Oh yeah, by ther way answer this:

    What is:

x^+3x-10=0??? I got the square root of 13, and I was like "lulwut?" . By the way the "^", means squared.

    thanks

    Q 1 & 2 were decent, 3,4 &5 alright but 6 was rock hard

On Q1c what did anybody get as the exchange rate?

No, but I'll have a look at the question tonight and I'll let you know.

You had to take away the bank's charge and then you were left with €600. Then I had €600 = the amount of rand. And then I divided the rand by €600 and got 9.6.

I don't know if that's it though, I'll check later when I have my paper.

i got 1% of 630 multiplied it by 100 to get 100%, then i divided it by the rands

Can somebody clarify that these are the right answers for QUESTION 1

    A. Total Prize Fund: 60,000 euro

    B. (i) Difference in diameter: 1.089x10(5)

    (ii) 3(1/2) (3 powered to a half.)

    C. (i) 2 and 1.8

    (ii) 1 euro = 9.6 Rand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

Awwwww lads. :D I got an answer for every single question, and I only expect to lose a few marks through small slips/blunders. It was lovely <3333 And I found 6C to be quite easy once I began it. Also, a lot of people in my year said they found it hard so errr yay! Although maths isn't subjective so it's no biggie, and as long as I don't mess up paper 2, I should get an A! :)

Now to really study for paper 2 this weekend, I really don't want to jeopardise this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,672 ✭✭✭ScummyMan

Yeah i got all them anyway cathalio :)
