I am planning on inventing a new boards ID from which to troll.

I would welcome any advice on how to troll well and not get caught.

Don't announce it in advance on boards is a good start.

Well, you could mention trolling in an innocent and gormless way so as to give people the impression you would not have the mental capacity for it

There won't be any connection between my real identity and my new "troll" identity.

If you name your 2nd acc. 'NotFacekicker' , no-one will suspect you are trolling.

Pretend you are starting a new boards account from which to troll and start a thread about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

your IP address is now logged with the system .... you have 2 minutes to pay Boards loads of cash or your computer will be terminated (that doesn't mean turned into a terminator)

Your doing it right now aren't you?

Pretending to be all innocent ,tut tut.

    1. Find a picture of a hot sexy gal. Not obviously a fake photo. Maybe your better looking sister's or cousin's photo.
    2. Make random threads indicating the frustration you have with the singles scene.
    3. Make quick friendship with lonely male members.

If you manage to land yourself an e-romance, you have hit troll gold!

Do **** to annoy people or waste their time. Its not that hard.

Leave out trolling where someone seems a little mentally unhinged though in the sad or anxiety kind of way.

Agreed. I'm going to be subtle. Build up a normal identity first for about a month... then start.

I thought the original "whingey lefty" post was very funny though.

Fight the powah, don't let those bully mods drag you down, man.

I'd create the username "Not_not_a_troll", it would confuse the mods for a bit 'cos they're a bit slow and won't understand and in that time you could wreck the gaff.

    Have fun!

I do feel this thread is in fact an attempt to troll without getting caught, hidden in plain sight if you will. Unfortunately it's not working out too well, and some people are genuinely helpful :D

It's going to be a one off troll. But hopefully something memorable. The idea is to get a load of people really worked up.

I think it would be very funny. I know I will be laughing.

First - start off with a dumb name.

Add to your mystique with a repetitive trademark saying or posting style.

Continue until you are fully established as a one-trick pony.

Eventually the name-checking of you will start and gather momentum.

    Keep posting repetitively.

In time, your acolytes and fans will continue to increase.

Curiously, the amount of people name-checking you will increase

Kill off your persona or, ideally, get banned.

    Even more people name-check you

Retrospectively, your fame will grow exponentially as people become more and more afraid to demur about your legend in front of others.

I don't know, my mum just says I am.

I'm planning on doing a few innocuous post for a couple of months, build up an "identity" etc. Then start a thread about a "live" situation, get people interested and then build it up from there...

I am still at planning stage.

Did this really warrant a ban? I'm NOT trolling here, just curious. I thought the comment was kinda funny, given the topic up for discussion. What made it bannable? Sometimes I think a controversial response within the mood of a thread can be funny, but I guess not everyone agrees with me...

    nothing funny about it.
