Placepot Question..

For placepot bets does each horse selection for one race mean only one of those horses can be placed i.e


Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4 etc...
Race 1 4 3 1
Race 2 5
Race 3 5 2 1
Race 4 4
Race 5 1 5 2
Race 6 2 1

Stake €2 €2 €2

Now here's what i'm trying to get to the bottom of.. If in race 1, horse 4 doesnt place, will it be replaced by horse 3 or 1 if they place? OR!! Are these seperate bets as in if horse 1 doesnt place, that line 1 bet is cancelled. The way I've been doing placepots is if horse 4 didnt place, that bet is gone, and it was down to horse 3 to place I was filling out all the lines for each race.. Not sure whether I've lost out on money now or not.. or was I doing it right? Hard to explain what im trying to say

just like that.. im not sure how it works can you fill out say for race one, two horses u think will place in that race and if one doesnt, the other one will take its place, and one horse in race 2, and so on.. or if u choose a horse on the second line is the second line a whole new bet so all of either the first line have to place or all of the second?

altho on the bruce betting slip it doesnt say permutations which i think is what im on about here....?

In this instance it would cost 2X1X1X2X3X1 =12 times the stake. As you are actually betting on 12 different lines.
In race 1 you have 2 and 4 running for you etc ie either can place or better still both place.

Edit I see what you were betting on now, because you were putting the €2 down the bottom of each line then you needed that individual line to come up, if you want to have more than one selection in a race put the stake down at the bottom in total stake and work out no of lines on the side.

so if i just put total stake, and not the stake under each race??
Such as the way you have it wrote out there now, how would my total stake be 12?
If i have it the way you have it, say on race 6, any of them 3 horses can place and my bet is valid?

I was betting on each line before then, I would prefer to do the permutation bet as you have it, just still not 100% on how its done.. getting there tho

Edit.. I see now, because instead of the €1 for one line, my total stake would just be €12 and thats my permutation, any of them horses for each race can come in and my bet would still be valid, same for race too, and at the end, if any of the horses placed on either line for a race come in my bet wins??

So say i done the €12 euro bet u just mentioned.. and the placepot was €123 euro for talk sakes.. what would i get back for the €12? Just €123?

Whereas if I got one line, for €2 and it came through, wouldnt my winnings be €246?

depends how many horses place . If one in each race then only get 123 but if you get two placed in one race and other five legs up you get it for two times. If you get all legs up with two legs having two placed you get four times and so on. If you bet a line then you have to get all horses in that line up. so if you get five from line one and one from line two the bets are losers.

Also on the bet you posted only first line would be valid as you do not have enough selections in other lines

So if i had two horses in the first leg, one in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, 2 in the fifth and one in the sixth ?? the total stake for all horses bet being 8, and not betting on each individual line id still only get 123?

2x2x2 =8 times if you laid out bet like that it would cost 8 euros if all eight place you get 8 times the dividend

no . You have to get one each leg to get one dividend. If one leg loses the whole bet is a loser. If you get 11 horses over five legs the bet is a loser. Suggest you give up on this bet as you clearly do not understand it, and I do not want to get into how favs or non runners work

To get a winning dividend, you have to have 6 horses placed ie at least one horse in each of the first 6 races of that meeting. By betting on more than 1 selection in each race or certain races this obviously increases your chances of winning. It also increases the cost as in effect it is a different line, afaik the minimum stake is £stg.10 per selection, as long as the bet is a minimum of £1.

In this example the cost is 12 times your stake, 12 lines. If the bolded horses placed then you would have 4 winning lines 2x1x1x1x2x1. So if you did a €12 bet ie 12 lines at €1 and the dividend was €123 then you would get €492 (123 x4).

Spot on, remember it doesn't have to be €1 per unit and of course you can use any no. of selections, it just costs more.

One horse let me down for a placepot in Kempton, had the permutation bet, two horses each line .. two placed in the first, one in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth, one in fifth and the last i was let down .. placepot was 585 sterling according to sporting life >:( ! BASTAAAAAAAAAARD!

Very unlucky man, Ive never done a placepot so I'm wonderin do all selections have to be at the one course?

I'm tryin to do one now. I pick my selections and when I press 'bet now' it gives all the selections but doesn't hive an option to place the bet.
I'll get on to live help and see

Edit- was on to live help and the money must be in your account before u place the bet. It's not like other bets where when you 'bet now' it gives the option to deposit the amount to cover bet.

When I saw that you were having trouble betting on one and after Bluetonic saying you couldn't do one I went ahead and checked just to make sure I wasn't going cuckoo.

What I'm saying it that with PP you can only do Tote UK products, not that only UK customers can do it!

Pity there is no Irish Tote through it, as their own website is utter rubbish.
