My membership in my gym expires at the end of this month and im not sure whether to rejoin or try crossfit, my current gym is very cheap at 200 euro for the year and its a hardcore bodybuilding/power lifters gym. The crossfit would cost me 75 euro a month, one thing thats pushing me towards cross fit is that I have been doing the same bodybuilding routine for years and i think crossfit would be good for a change, would help me iron out any imbalances and improve posture, plus its more socialble so i would get to know people, i have 3 weeks to decide anyway, any thoughts

Is €75 a month going to give you full access during opening hours to the gym or is it for a set number of programmed classes per week?

You could just look at the same old routine you've been doing for years... and stop doin it!

I think the 75 euro is for one class a week only! - EDIT sorry stand corrected

I think you'd be better off joining the same gym again, and using the money you save to hire a personal trainer once a month to keep you on track.

SERIOUS value for money on offer there... look what you get during your WODs - http://www.crossfitwaterford.com/workouts/thursday-the-02-06-11/ :D

In all seriousness, assuming a good standard of coaching, and multplie classes per week - that's really good value. Pretty much what you'd pay for 2x per week outdoor bootcamps in Dublin anyway.

Dunno who's running CF waterford but there worst thing that can happen is that you drop 75 quid on a months membership, realise you don't like it and then go back to your old gym!

It depends what's more important to you. You can pretty much do crossfit in any gym, so you could stay put and just change your programming yourself. If it's the social aspect you're looking for though then €75 a month doesn't sound bad at all to train with like-minded people, especially considering it includes unlimited gym time too.

I am getting a little older now so I recon the first round of bjs would finish me off.

First round of BJs would definitely finish me off!.. I'll get my coat..

Anyway.. from what I've heard from others who have attended crossfit in the past and attended invitationals they've generally been at a very high standard of instruction. As has been said above, the workouts are awesome. If you read any of the workouts on the crossfit sites they're definitely worth 75 blips a month to be trained to get to a high level of fitness.
