It terrifies me that someone so stupid has a chance - however slim - of becoming the next President of the United States. George Bush was an intellectual next to her:

Yes. She is. Most definitely. It's not even her rewriting of history, but the fact that she can barely string a coherent sentence together. it looked on that video as if she didn't know what was going on. I hope she's nominated- Obama will be a shoe in!:pac:

In fairness Paul Revere didn't actually warn anyone that the British were coming, so 90% of Americans have got this one wrong. But yes, shes a complete fool.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 73 ✭✭BrerWolf

    No she's not.

Being unable to talk to camera (hell even to other people) does not mean that she's a halfwit.

However, she is manipulative and dangerous.
totally willing to use any cause/issue to promote herself.

If she was a halfwit, we would never have heard of her.

She really is a half wit. Don't know why anyone would support her. Real republicans and conservatives should be disgusted by her.

Frankly I'm willing to believe that she has a staff of Machiavellian geniuses who are profiting equally from her commercial appeal and her ceaseless attempts to appeal to the most base and idiotic aspects of the American pysche.

Hmm. Maybe that's his plan all along, to discredit and heap scorn upon the US, by proxy.

Maybe Murdoch is the ultimate anti-American? :D

She may be a half-wit, but her handlers are not. They know exactly what they're getting her to do and say. US Politics, even moreso than Irish, is nothing but theatre.
Every move meticulously crafted and planned far in advance of the puppet going out on stage.

Either a joycean styled monologue that will require analysis to procure its meaning, or a rambling piece of horror where she removes the connection between speech and thought.

Or maybe a mix. Hard to say.

Can't see her getting even the republican nomination, tbh.

    Sarah Palin
"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.

A neighbour of mine came out with a hilarious comment yesterday about something but when I think about Sarah Palin the same comment could work " A half a fool or a full fool ". I just think she could be dangerous in power if she is surrounded by the same people who were with Bush.

Hmmm... so she says things and winks... so she flubs the occasional question. Oh the horrors! She is obviously more intelligent than most here. Look what she’s accomplished. Look at the positions she’s held. Look at the mark she's made on the country since the 2008 election. Look at how she’s handled the tough world of politics. She knows exactly what she’s doing. So if she’s a “half-wit,” what does that make most here? Nit? Dim?

    This should be fun!
    Expect a comedy goldmine.

Tens of thousands of emails relating to Sarah Palin when she was
governor of Alaska are being released later today. It is an enormous
cache of information, and we would like your help sifting through
    them.

A team of Guardian reporters is in the state capital, Juneau, to
receive the emails, which we will begin posting online after their
release at 9am local time (1pm ET, 6pm GMT). But there's no way that
we will be able to get through them all in a short space of time, so
instead we will start posting them online for you to read.

How about that! The lazy meanstream media is having their liberal readership do the legwork for them.

He was no half-wit. He may have been a bit bull-headed, divisive, overly blunt, and less than popular with foreigners and the Left, but he got good grades at Yale and was certified to fly a notoriously unforgiving (and nuclear-armed) fighter jet. Oh, and he made it to State Governor and President, which isn't a sign of half-wittism either.

Here's the Snopes. Note that most of the 'negative/stupid Bush' things are red-bulletted (i.e. false)
    http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/bush.asp

Where Palin is concerned, I don't know what to think. I hope she doesn't win the nomination, she is extremely divisive right now. She either has an astoundingly good media team, or is naturally very good at working the media herself. She shouldn't be as much in the news as she is, by any standards I can think of, yet she's managed it. She does seem to have an issue with off-the-cuff speaking, which isn't the be-all and end-all of intelligence, but I submit it is a mandatory skill for a President, which she doesn't appear to have.

One of the key factors for presidential hopefuls is "likability", Palin seems to score very highly on this, then again almost any "mom-in-charge" celebrity in the States could potentially do very well.. imagine Oprah running?

Personally I think Palin has milked the populist vote for too long and doesn't display any acumen for.. aahh dammit she's too dumb to be president, imagine her with her finger on the button? come on

    Wow...

Handled the tough world of politics? In the three years since she came to the public's attention, she has not held one press conference. Not one. Any idea why that is?

She resigned her position as governor before her term was over...why is that?

Why does she only give interviews to Fox News?

Here is the most recent 'gotcha question' Palin has complained about (in an interview about her comments on Paul Revere, on Fox of course):
“What have you seen so far today and what are you going to take away from your visit?”

Do you agree that that is a 'gotcha' question? I mean, are you hearing the same words coming out of her mouth that I am? You are right?

O the chance for me to pounce with a deadly 'What magazines do you read?' will never arise, mores the pity.

    Meantime......
In an email written in March 2008 she said that she had been praying for direction over the financial negotiations. "I have been praying for wisdom on this ... God will have to show me what to do on the people's budget because I don't yet know the right path ... He will show me though."

She is a cautionary tale. Think of the film idiocracy and you get Sarah Palin, someone who isn't even ashamed of their own stupidity and incompetance.

America is destined to decline, its civic culture so weak and unintelligible that it produces monsters like Sarah Palin, no satirist alive could accurately convey the terrifying spectre she represents as a cancerous growth in the American body politic.

There are liberal idiots, and there are conservative idiots. What I find strange, is that so may intelligent conservatives will defend conservative idiocies purely because they are conservative. Makes one wonder really about who are the real idiots.

Her inability to construct sentences and the manner in which she speaks about the past in present tense aside, the weirdest part of her speech is they way she randomly goes up a few octaves and at the same time elongates a string of words in a seemingly random manner.
"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through toooownnn to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed."

as stephen points out it would be difficult to ride horse, fire a musket and ring a bell
Despite evidence to the contrary, Palin said she “didn’t mess up about” Revere on Fox News Sunday, while her supporters tried to edit the Revere’s Wikipedia page to reflect the former governor’s version. (See how well you know your own Revere history by taking this quiz.)

On Monday’s “Colbert Report,” Stephen Colbert attempted to prove that it was possible to ride a horse while ringing a bell and firing and reloading a musket by jumping on his coin-operated kiddie horse and taking a very bumpy ride.

Watch the 11:30 p.m. ET ride of Stephen Colbert below:

    Oh bother… well here goes
..and resigned from, because she couldnt handle them.

Hmmmm. Yup, but do you really not know the true story, or chose to ignore it? Regardless it gives the appearance of being deceitful because of the omissions in your response? Remember the onslaught of frivolous lawsuits from her political enemies after the VP run? Remember how the lawsuits had tied up the Governor's time, forced her family to spend a fortune in legal expenses, and taken a great personal toll on the governor.
"Todd and I, we’re looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills just in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn't cost them a dime. ... My staff and I spend most of our days, we're dealing with this stuff instead of progressing our state now." – Sarah Palin

"Obama Birther Syndrome"… Oh how passe.
Handled the tough world of politics? In the three years since she came to the public's attention, she has not held one press conference. Not one. Any idea why that is?
Not quite true, now is it. But I agree she has a tendency to bypass the demented media filter and go directly to the people… Sorta like what Ronald Reagan did.

She resigned her position as governor before her term was over...why is that?

See above (duplication of efforts, or just more mob tactics?)

Why does she only give interviews to Fox News?

Again, not quite true, now is it?

Here is the most recent 'gotcha question' Palin has complained about (in an interview about her comments on Paul Revere, on Fox of course):
She turned out to be technically correct… now didn’t she? And thank god she didn’t say something to the effect that we got 57 states eh… then the media would definitely have crucified her… then again -- maybe not.

The sad thing Amerika, is that you could be relied upon to come storming to her defence.

Yeah I jump to her defense when media and mob tactics unfairly demonize a woman who holds no elected office, is not running, and almost certainly will not run again anytime soon… basically because she a conservative woman. Luckily, I’m not a complete idiot and jump to the defense of Anthony Weiner… agree?

My turn! Wouldn’t you all agree it would be better if the New York Times and Washington Post utilized their scarce reporter resources to investigate the contact and emails between the governor of Washington state and the White House regarding the blocking of Boeing plans to build a plant in South Carolina… then to waste all that time and effort scouring the emails of Palin while she was in office?

Or how about them utilizing the efforts they're putting into scouring Palin’s emails to, oh say, let people know that President Obama’s pending environmental regulations aimed against coal-fired generating plants, which produce about half the nation's electricity, more expensive to operate... and consumers will probably see their electricity bills jump by an estimated 40 to 60 percent in the next few years. I guess it's a waste of time when we have old Palin emails to rummage through eh?

And you don't see how Palin Derangement System is Passe? give me a break. Unless it's to take on the new meaning of people deranged enough to rush to her defense, no matter what.
Hmmmm. Yup, but do you really not know the true story, or chose to ignore it? Regardless it gives the appearance of being deceitful because of the omissions in your response? Ohhh the poor dear. Is that going to be her excuse if she's wanting to fight off every rumour she will face when she becomes president? Imagine if GWB had worried as much about his public image. The country would have fallen apart. If that's her excuse/reason for stepping down as governor I can't imagine how she could possibly expect to handle the white house.
I agree she has a tendency to bypass the demented media filter and go directly to the people…
Which is why she spends so much of her time on FOX, on their payroll, in a studio in some tower. I don't recall if that's exactly what Reagan did.
She turned out to be technically correct… now didn’t she? And thank god she didn’t say something to the effect that we got 57 states eh… then the media would definitely have crucified her… then again -- maybe not.
Actually wasn't it Paul Revere who warned the townsfolk? Then it was the Townsfolk who rang town bells and taunted british soldiers. As for the 57 states remark, it too got it's fifteen minutes. So I'm not sure what your veiled complaint is about.

Yeah I jump to her defense when media and mob tactics unfairly demonize a woman who holds no elected office, is not running, and almost certainly will not run again anytime soon
One can only hope, as she's entirely unfit.
basically because she a conservative woman
Wrong, it's because she's completely incompetent, ran for the 2nd highest office in possibly the World and helped to pull the curtains on one of the most watched political events of a generation. And it might have all gone through if she knew how to answer basic open-ended questions. It has nothing to do with her being a conservative, or a woman.
investigate the contact and emails between the governor of Washington state and the White House regarding the blocking of Boeing plans to build a plant in South Carolina…
You could create a thread about that. Though I've driven past I-526 more than a few times and can firmly tell you that the Final Assembly Plant in North Charleston is very much being constructed, and, it's pretty damn huge.

I have no sympathy for coal though. The Appalachian's are a National Treasure, and the coal industry is abusing it's rights to extract fuels from it.

As for Palin's email, it was so polite of the state of alaska to release them as hardcopies, and not the digital format in which they were originally stored. If you want to blame anyone for wasted time (and trees), blame Alaska.

Palin does everything she can to further her own image in the media.

And part of that is a feigned shock at the attention so that she can avoid answering questions.

Its the year before the general election and she's a potential candidate and she's surprised by the media attention? Surely the reaction of a half wit?

Its fascinating to see how far it'll go.

It sounds like her nemesis michelle bachman did really well in the debate last night.

It would be bloody awful is she got elected, she's just a fool in general and i'm not basing my opinion on the video, i can't believe anyone would actually put her in a place of power :O hoping Ron Paul will get elected :D
purely because he supports legalization of cannabis though, couldn't give a toss about the rest of it to be honest, i don't he'd be too trigger happy anyway and we wont be affected too much by most of his decisions but cannabis legalization in america would affect most other countries views i think so that's my reason anyway.
Not a chance i'd be in favor of him getting elected if i lived in the US though.

Its going to be a state issue rather than federal. State governments will decide, as they do now. There's not going to be much the president can do even if he were to support it.

You have to read between the lines with US politicians. "Supporting legislation" means practically nothing really does it?

Since you all seem to like Jon Stewart soooooo much, here’s what appears to be his take on all the email attention surrounding Sarah Palin. I have no sound working on this computer, but it “looks” pretty damn funny, and I guessing he takes the media to task over it. (I’m taking a chance here  and with my luck it will probably just blow up in my face :))
