Should students be able to claim the dole if

    They cannot receive any housing or financial support from their parents?

    work during the summer/ between courses
    as the student grant does not fund living expenses for a quarter of each year while studying (100% grant = 3-6k pa).

    This allowance could be given to very few (with proof of looking for employment) if they could prove that they could not receive financial assistance based on their parents income and dependents and/or with proof of extreme social circumstances.


    This is not about screwing the system but being able to survive while you're actively looking for work.
