    And oats will do really.
But rolled or instant would be the best (oats like pinhead take ages to soak).
You wouldn't need to grind them, if you have a blender it wouldn't hurt.
Instant oats are basically rolled oats with a portin of them ground up.

I buy whole rolled outs, any cheap brand and turn to a dust in the blender. Easy

    Go for it.

I use the same Oats sometimes, they're quite fine so there's no need to go through the hassle of putting them in a food blender.

    Oats are oats
Just pick up a packet beside the corn flakes.
Don't think that the ones sold my myprotein are better for training as its a supplement site

Scottish oats from Tescos are dirt cheap. Oats are oats!

I opened my new bag of these today to make rubadubs oat pancake recipe.

They are very fine - as in, near the same consistency as a whey protein. I hadn't been expecting them to be so fine but am glad that they are because it means that they mix very well.

    This thread confuses me.

If you are consuming a pwo shake, then you want fast release energy. Not oats. Glucose. Even cheaper than oats.

If you are consuming shakes for meal replacement - why not have a nice bowl of porridge made with milk and a little honey? I'm sure this is far nicer than oats "in shake form".

Oats are good. I like oats. I very much like porridge made with milk and a little honey.

Either I'm missing something or this thread is like a parody of amateur strength athletes.

In fairness i think the OP is looking for a quick and easy way of getting carbs into the body - and oats in a protein shake is the easiest way to do this.

'A parody of amateur strength athletes...'??? Get your big head out of your a*rse Mr. Universe.

:D agreed.... Some people just don't like Oats and a shake solves this problem. Also, oats in a protein shake is a lot quicker if you're getting up for an early morning gym session. Finally, the ground Oats is good for recipes such as the pancakes I made yesterday.

I also agree with this but it's all personal preferences (I like). Some people detest porrige so if it's a choice between something like Special K or Oats/Protein shakes, the Oats/Protein shake will win hands down.

I wasn't suggesting that I didn't fit into the category myself. Not sure why you took that the way you did. The thread reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer starts exercising and eats everything in bar form.

It also reminded me of this:

No offence intended and fair enough do what suits you.

I don't get your issue. Sure, you shouldn't have everything in liquid form but ground oats obviously have their place - the fact that myProtein have 221 good reviews for a relatively new product proves this.

For example, I'm on a bulk at the moment and cycle 8 miles to the gym in the morning before work. I'd have a protein shake with ground oats and a couple of eggs before leaving the house. I'd then have a post-workout shake with fast acting carbs (Dextrose) in the gym followed by a bowl of porrige when I arrive at work.

The rest of my diet isn't in shake form but I think the above is a pretty good start to the day and all taken before 8am.

I dont have an issue. I said people should do what works for them.
I was genuinely confused. I stated why.
I gave my opinion. I explained it.

Cycling 8 miles to the gym before work? -while trying to gain weight? Your calorie requirements are hardly typical, in any case.

I totally agree with this. Peanut butter has become a daily use product for me to get those calories and good fats in (had to change this to fats from farts after reading the preview - now that would have been truly confusing :D )

I was just giving my reasons why it's not just "amatuer bodybuilders" that would find the ground oats through a shake useful. I'm sure that some professional bodybuilders would find it useful too considering their calorie requirements.

I'm an amateur though and maybe it's shining through :D

If your bulking then try this .

Oats, Natural meridian Crunchy Peanut butter, Chocolate whey protein, Flax seed, 2-3 Strawberries, Coconut milk

    Great super shake :-)
