Same here, no email notification, had to go into order history to see that they had cancelled it.

I was talking to a rep from TheHut who said the T-Shirts would be 50% off (when they were £29.99 before discount).. so I'd say the £14.99 was a pricing error on their part.

Give it time to be fair.. they'll refund you. They've probably got to wade through 1000's of orders first.

They don't take any money from your paypal account until the order is despatched they just make an authorisation when you are ordering so unless they have despatched your order no money should have actually left your account.

That`s what I thought, not the case this time, money was taken from my PayPal account and my order subsequently cancelled

I just went in and checked my own account and mine is the same they have taken the money, the transaction is shown as "completed".

By comparison another order I placed with them in January was cancelled and the amount is still showing as "pending".

Time for an email to thehut!

Just saw this thread.
I placed an order with TheHut a couple of weeks ago. The Hut cancelled it, saying the item was out of stock, and said no money would be taken from my c.c.
Dont know if it ties in with all the cancelled orders mentioned here but putting it all together it seems something is up at The Hut.

.. but paying by Paypal is the equivalent of sending money to them. It's not the same as them charging a card on despatch.

They recieve payment immediately via Paypal.. they'll refund you then if the order cannot be completed.

So you sending them payment when you order goods is the same as them taking payment from you on despatch of the order? Surely not!

It's the crux of paying with Paypal.. money will be taken from your account immediately. When you order and pay with Paypal, you send them the money electronically immediately but paying via credit card authorizes them to charge the card (typically on despatch of the order).

I mailed them and got a canned response including "please feel free to place a new order at the revised price"

No mention whatsoever of refunding me the £7 they have taken from my paypal.
