Meath are in a bit of trouble at the moment...though they still have some fantastic players, especially in their forwards. Bray is back in the team.

But I think Kildare will win this. James Kavanagh's back in the team and they're a better team than Meath. Meath have lots of individually skilful players but they fail to perform as well as they can a lot of the time.

    So, Kildare by 5.

Hard to see beyond a Kildare win. Meath don't look like they are at their best at the moment while kildare have been steadily improving and look like a fine team. Kildare by 7 or 8 maybe.

Meath to cause an upset - by 2 or 3 maybe

How do you mean, they've been fairly consistent in the championship the last couple of years haven't they? Even when they get knocked out they always go out fighting.

Prone to their wides and slow starts.

They had both against us last year and still beat us out the gate.

Hard to call. Meath have the better scoring forwards but Kildares are pacier. You just never know with Meath. On paper Kildare should just scrape through by 1/2 points but this is Meath so anything could happen.

If our forwards click we can win. But our shooting this season has been awful and there have been too many games where weve gone for long periods without scoring (Antrim and derry games being prime examples). Think kildare having a game under their belt already will stand to them and they should win by 3 or 4 at least.

Kildare to win comfortably - they'll dominate all over the pitch - Meath will capitulate and the manager will be forced to go with the supporters demanding it.

From Kildare, Think Kildare should win, Geezer has picked the right team. The only thing that worries me is that Colm O'Rourke has tipped Meath in the racing post and he was very shrewd last year. Of course O'Rourke's son plays for Meath so he could be bias but I would at least like to know why he thinks Meath will win.

I wouldn't call Meath winning "an upset" but you'd have to fancy Kildare given their recent league campaigns and Kildares form in the championship over the last 2-3 years.Meaths strength is in their full forward line and a lot will depend on the form of Joe Sheridan,Graham Reilly and Stephen Bray.

Kildares weakness is the full back line.Hugh McGrillan is too loose if you ask me while Meaths weakness is their half back line.I'd expect John Doyle to roam around the forty and kick some long range points.

I can't see how Geraghty will make an impact if thrown on for 10 minutes or so.I could be wrong but at 38 years of age having been retired for 3 years, there is a gap between senior club and intercounty football.I can only imagine Joe Sheridan being subbed if things are going wrong.

I think Meaths midfield is looking stronger than it has for a while.Crawford and Meade in the middle is better than any combination with Mark Ward.

He isnt even playing senior club football, signed for Athboy a few years ago playing junior football, I think they are intermediate now but its a few years since he played senior club football.

I'm not as optimistic going into this one as I was last year. What worries me is that I know damn all about Meath at the moment. How did their players react to the recent trouble in the camp? are they training well? etc, etc. They are keeping under the radar.
From a Kildare point of view, the team is going well. Defence IMO, was strong the last day and i'm not too worried about the wides, as it was a very windy day. Hopefully Kildare can win this, I would love another crack at Dublin again.

hes got a three year contract with a review after year two and from talking to people the ones wanting him out are in the minority if you ask me.and they are also the ones expecting an all ireland in meath every year!!

as for the game im kinda optimistic after all the rubbish thats going on i think the players are gonna be really up for it.while kildare are a good team i dont think they are that much better than meath and if we had a plan b last year we couldve beat them.

I feel Kildare could put up a big score on Meath tommorrow, Meath are in a terrible state regarding they're manager and the Graham Geraghty saga, also the loss of Eoin Harrington is huge for them.

Kildare are missing they're two mid-fielders from last year in Early and Flynn but Ithink they have greater strength and depth than Meath.

    Kildare by 10.

    ^^^ Kildare 2-16 Meath 0-12;)

Terrible league this year from us this year but I'm hoping we can put this behind us and push for Leinster (optimistic I know :D )

We have a quality side especially in our forwards, hoping we bang in an early goal or 2, take control and leave Kildare chasing for the whole game

My prediction: Meath 2-9 Kildare 1-9 again... Optimistic :)

I like Brolly. Pretty intelligent guy, knows his football, a bit of a laugh aswell.

It's Kevin McStay that I don't like. I'm not a fan of Tony Davis either but he's a Limerick sympathiser so I tolerate him.

Tomas O ' Connor is named at mid-field and I wouldnt be surprised to see him play there, maybe if things arent going well then Johnny will come out.

Do RTE not realise theres 2 teams playing today, everything is about Meath:rolleyes:

He was talking about all the goals meath got against dublin last year.and he said "when meath raped the dubs last year".

edit: just looked back at it again.. He sure did say it.. He's a barrister, I mean surely he knows to be careful with his words on national telly.. ???

doyle did well vs wicklow in the middle good choice to have him at full forward with kavanagh (if match fit)
