Advice about cross trainer and general query

    Hi

I have been trying to lose weight since Feb of this year and so far i have lost 25lbs - which i am delighted about!!

I rely alot on going to the gym to help me lose weight. I cant starve myself to lose weight, I tried that when i was younger and i always caved after a few days and ate all round me! So this time i have been eating healthy food but in reasonable quantities (aiming for about 1500 calories a day) and going to the gym most days and trying to burn off 500+ calories.

My first question is - is what i am doing ok or should i be trying to cut down more on food/exercise more?

My second question is - i have been using the cross trainer alot and i find sometimes that my knees get a little sore from it. When they do i will do pilates or go for a swim or something for a day or two and my knees will be fine again but i wonder is there anything i can do to help support my knees on the cross trainer. I am afraid that if i get injured then my weight loss plans will come undone!

    Thanks in advance.
