Hope the mods are ok with me posting this here as I've already created a thread on this in AH. This news was circulating on Twitter and Facebook over the last few nights but I didn't want to mention in on here until I had a verifiable source:

    http://www.seancrowe.ie/latest-news/1-news/104-crowe-urges-vigilance-after-rape-attempt-in-tallaght

I'm not trying to cause panic here but there is a woman in hospital lucky to be alive after one attack. Please pass on to any women living in the greater area, and advise extreme caution while out walking until this animal is caught...

Until the Garda confirm this it's still based on twitter and facebook as the link there gives no sources itself. Worrying if true.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Until it's confirmed by an official body, this is just circumspection and panic-inducing.

Please feel free to post again once you have a more legitimate source.

Folks, just received this link by PM so thread has been reopened.

Just also to note that Gardai have said that contrary to rumours do not have a record of other attacks in this area and have asked that women in this area be vigilant.

For all women the same advice applies -should not walk out in the dark alone and should do some self defence classes
