Starting this thread simply because there are some worthy talking points.

I'd say the Welsh players are thoroughly pissed at having to play another meaningless game 4-5 weeks after almost everyone else has finished up!

Id be fairly glad to have a chance to prove a point to the coaching setup after a dire regular season campaign with the regional teams and the national side.

They're competing for places and about to head overseas, aren't they? They'll be mustard to play.

The BaaBaas were very good last week against England. Howlett is now available for them too.

Didn't watch the England game, but I'm quite looking forward to this ! I'm actually quite interested in seeing henson?? Wonder will he pull himself together n seal his plane ticket over the summer ?

Anyone know anything about Lloyd Burns (replacement)? TBH I've never heard of the guy! What position does he play?

Hooker at the Dragons. Their regular hooker Tom Willis has been out for most of the season so Burns got a run of games.

Many thanks for that. I mustn't have been paying much attention when I saw Dragons on TV.

Hopefully the Barbarians will name the same backrow as last week. It would be fascinating to see the young Wales trio against Van Niekerk, Smith and Parisse.

Better looking team than the one put out by England but you would have to fancy the Baa Baas again.

They'd a slow start but had a good second half. Hoping for more of the same this weekend.

If the brat plays well all will be forgiven, 'tis a fickle world.

Nacewa added to 22 man squad aswell

    Barbarians:
    15 Isa Nacewa, 14 Paul Sackey, 13 Seru Rabeni, 12 Mathieu Bastareaud, 11 Doug Howlett, 10 Brock James, 9 Sebastien Tillous-Borde;
8 Sergio Parisse (capt), 7 Martyn Williams, 6 Joe van Niekerk, 5 Paul Tito, 4 Iosefa Tekori, 3 Carl Hayman, 2 Sebastien Bruno, 1 Iestyn Thomas.

Replacements: 16 Leonardo Ghiraldini, 17 Davit Kubriashvili, 18 Erik Lund, 19 George Smith, 20 Lloyd Williams, 21 Willie Mason, 22 Benoit Baby

I count 11 changes from last week. Watch out for Tekori at 4, he's a Fijian with animal pace for a lock; he burned the England defence last week to set up the winning try.

I think the Baabaas will win this. Basteraud and Rabeni will smash into the Welsh 10-12 channel all day and make ground. Very good finishers in the back three. Martyn Williams will be out to make a point after being dropped from the Welsh squad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

James, Bastareaud, Rabeni will literally be running single-pass crash balls all day. Not the most creative backline of all time. I suppose Brock James is an uncapped player so he should be given his shot in the spirit of things.

Would have much much preferred to see Baby in the team tbh, but I can understand why Rabeni is there.

Loads of interesting players to watch. Willie Mason, Bastareuad, Nacewa. And the battle of Jones v. James, two ASM outhalves.

Jones is off to Clermont too?

Used to play there. James was his replacement.

I'd take Jones over James nine times out of ten myself. Sgould be a good game, on paper the BaBa's have the beating of them but the great thing about these games is that you never know what is going to happen.

BBC Two Wales 2:00pm-4:30pm, and BBC Red Button in other regions.

Unfortunately leaves cable viewers in Ireland out of luck, hoped Setanta might have picked it up but not this time.

Pointless exercise in futility. Give these guys a frickin holiday. So much rugby to be played.

anyone know anywhere to watch this online?
stuck in work with nothing to do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭sock puppet

The commentators just said Wales are getting caps for this game :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Barbarians winning scrum penalties on the Welsh line. Wales in trouble.

Edit: Wales turn it over but then knock in on. Another scrum to the BaaBaas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Penalty to Wales, they get away with it. Good defence from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭sock puppet

    Henson for the World Cup!

Shocker of a kick from James.

Good try that, shocking pass from Phillips though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 308 ✭✭EmacB

    update on the score anyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

12-7 to the Barbarians. Tries by Tekori and Nacewa. Wales try by North.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    Intercept try for Stoddart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Poor effort by Sakey in the corner. Winger should do better.
Then Parisse gets in off the scrum. I think he really wanted that one, he's run a lot of ball this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Parisse is pure class. I agree Sackey could have done better. Wales are getting murdered at the scrum.

    14-19 to Barbarians

To be fair Phillips didn't even attempt to use his arms.

    HT: 14-19

Wales getting beaten up here, they are lucky to be within 5 points IMO. Brock James at 10 is having a mixed game for the visitors.

Perhaps a call up for Gareth Edwards is in order?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,838 ✭✭✭theboss80

Henson lost some fake tan there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    Rabeni smashes Henson! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Brew in the bin for a high tackle, deserved. Comes after Henson grubber kicked the ball away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    Now Tekori in the bin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Wales blow a chance and now Barbarians have a lineout in the Wales 22 after good play from Isa and Dougie.
