Washing away bacteria from fruit and veg (Germany)

    Hiya everyone

Just wondering, what is everyone doing with regards to washing fruit and veg? I just bought a "Fruit and veg wash concentrate" in the health store

    http://www.juiceland.co.uk/item--Veggi-Wash-Fruit-and-Vegetable-Wash--VEGGIWASH.html

The bottle doesn't say anything about bacteria which is my main worry but the description in the web page that I attached above does. So is anyone worrying about washing their stuff further than washing it with water? Of course we always wash it thoroughly and we try to buy organic although this is not always possible, nevertheless the veg in Germany came from organic farming.

    Any help appreciated.

Maybe it's pure laziness, but I tend not to bother. I give things a quick scrub under the tap and then cook them. Hell, eat lots of stuff straight from the garden or the hedge, it seems silly to be getting worked up about a bit of bacteria.

If there was someone in the house with a comprimised immune system, it might be different.

I don't know if you can do anything to get e-coli out of food bar cooking the hell out of it.

Those cucumbers were probably eaten raw which mightn't have helped.

[I'll try not to mention juicing. ;) ]

Euro Surveillance has repeatedly documented outbreaks of microbial contamination of vegetables, so this is not a shocking new development, although the deaths are tragic and alarming.

Straightforward thorough washing may be sufficient for the end user: Preventing E. coli From Garden to Plate.
