Does anybody know how many calories are in a burritos? Like the ones they sell in borritos and blues and boojum.

Depends on the fat content of the beef mince, whether there's cheese on it, and the amounts of sour cream and stuff. The tortilla wraps can also be very high in calories. Would need more info to give accurate calories, but I'd reckon most burritos you get out would be high in calories.
Try www.fitday.com and see what they list a burrito as.

Thanks for the reply. The ones I eat are chicken. Am guessing from looking around Google that it would be between 800 and 1000 calories. Would be good if the smaller food outlets in Ireland had calorie tables like McDonalds and Burger King.

Hell yeah. Was in the states last summer and the calorie counts on the menus was great. A real eye opener. Chicken burrito would be lower on cals definately. If I'm out and about and not sure about the cals I'm getting from any dish, I just remove any starchy carbs (wheat/bread/potato/rice etc) and eat the rest. I find that helps if I'm totally clueless about the calorie content of something.

There's a mexican fast food place near me, they have nutritional data on their website. Would be a decent guide for similar places. 780-840 depending on filling. Includes rice/beans/meat/cheese but no sour cream or guacamole

There isn't really that much in it if its lean beef.

I'm sure you can reduce the calories and fat content by choosing the contents of your calories carefully. Try stick to white meat, or even just beans. I'd say all the fat is in the sour cream and definitely the guacamole! I'm unsure about the salsa though. I's say that would dramatically reduce the calorie count of a burritio! on the plus side... burritos are so filling, i don't think i've ever eaten a whole one1 That has to lower the calories!

Burritos and Blues is a great spot! All the food is so fresh and i think i heard organic aswell! That means its healthier!

As a low carber I too love B&B's, I regularly get their burrito in a bowl - chicken with lettuce, peppers, onions, tomatoes, sour cream salsa and cheese.

Yeah, but fast food restaurants and cafes don't tend to use lean beef. I find most beef mince dishes that I order out are quite fatty.

Thanks for the help guys. Just like to know when I do have fast food what damage it is doing.:)

    Who mentioned mince?
I was talking about beef pieces. And how they won't be much difference to chicken.

Honestly, the difference in the meat isn't the deciding factor here

What would it be? The rice and wrap itself?

Well the bulk of the calories are the wrap, rice, cheese, salsa, beans, guacamole etc
The meat is a tiny portion of the over all calories. In the link above chicken verses beef saves you 30 calories, not a huge amount when you are talking about 800+ calories.

    My point is if you rather beef get beef, if you want to cut cals then there things that make a bigger difference;

The cheese is worth 120 calories.
The wrap is worth 200 (get it in a bowl with lettuce)
    and so on

Have to say I still find it mad that there are so many calories in cheese. It's something that I find doesn't fill me up at all. I don't even like it all that much its just one of those things you order without thinking like lettuce in a sandwich. Speaking of sandwiches is there much of an advantage in ordering a wrap over a roll or bread if a wrap has 200 calories? I also find that when you order a wrap in a deli you seem to get twice as much filling. or is the health advantages in wraps really only in them small pre packaged ones?

Cheese is high fat so its high cal. This means it sustains hunger slowly over a long period. But it doesn't make you feel full straight after eating like carbs.

Cutting cheese is any easy way to cut cals

Thanks that's good simple advice. Another thing I didn't realise had loads of calories is nuts. Used to eat a bag of them and think I was being healthy!
