Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is reportedly lining up a role in Fast & Furious sequel Fast Five.
According to Deadline, the actor has been in talks to star alongside Vin Diesel in the Universal action series's latest instalment.
Paul Walker and director Justin Lin are also slated to return for the sequel, which will take fugitives Dom Toretto and Brian O'Connor to Brazil.

Rock and Vin in the same film cant be too bad :)

The will be the lowest QI rated movie of 2011

I actually didn't think the last one was as bad as the few before it but that really isn't saying much.

I think the rock is always worth a look too.

Surprisingly enough Vin Diesel is a very intelligent guy and a great wrtier/director to boot. He's one actor I have a lot of respect for, the way in which he insisted that Judi Dench recieve a substantial wage boost for Riddick and the way in which he always has time to chat to a fan really does show what a decent guy he is. I've had a few conversations on face book with him and friends of mine who met him in person have all had nothign but nice things to say about him.

The trailer has been released for the latest Fast and Furious movie, bit of a guilty pleasure I must admit. The new one seems to up the ante with explosions, action and silliness.:)

It's a popcorn film. The only one I didn't really like was Tokyo Drift, the rest were just easy watching and a laugh.

I thought the 1st one was enjoyable, the 2nd one was a train-wreck replacing everything with awful CGI, 3rd was crap too, and I thought the 4th was boring as hell............I think I just got bored of seeing the same stuff the 4th time around.

The Rock is the only thing that would have me any way interested in this one.

If the effects of 1min 11sec, into the trailer, are classed good enough to actually make it to the trailer, then I do not hold out much hope

Spielberg is a big fan so much so he wrote a part for him to play in Saving Private Ryan.He is also a big D&D player, their is a great interview of him talking about D&D. I do like him seems like a very approachable person and he has done quite well for himself.

I like Diesel but he (and Dwayne Johnson) have killed their career's by doing overly silly kids movies.

Nothinig wrong with doing kids movies but don't do it at the expense of your main market

Actually looking forward to this! Never knew they were doing a fifth one. Not expecting it to rival Shawshank but I think if I go in expecting to see a harmless, entertaining film with fast cars, explosions, hot girls, gun fights...I have a feeling I won't be disappointed!?

Meh, braindead but entertaining movies, I actually liked Tokyo Drift the most purely as it was in Japan and it had Sonny Chiba in it

I didn't know that this was even in production never mind finished. I may even go to the cinema to see this. Yeaaaaaaa.........

And most of the cast is back, even Han (1.48) and he died in Tokyo Drift.(?)

Hell, even the Rock is in it. This has to be brilliant.:)

    .:)

Saw the trailer for this at the weekend. Looks entertainingly cheesy.
One line sold it for me:
"And whatever you do... *dramatic pause* don't let them get in a car."

This is one of those movies that's either decent, or so bad it's funny. I'm thinking so bad it's funny! :) Can't wait.

Nope - it takes place after Fast and Furious, but Tokyo Drift is supposed to be after them again.

    Fast Five: 2010
    Tokyo Drift: 2011

I have no idea how or when Drift was positioned as set in 2011.

Thought that was near the worst of them with the thickest, dumbest guy in the lead.

I though Han fecked off to Japan during the course of the last one (Fast & Furious (2009) 4?), then got killed in Tokyo which was a prequel (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)?

Curious to see how they manage to explain his being in it  Only thing that makes sense is if Fast Five is also set before Tokyo and Han is still hanging around in Southern America maybe.

that is the time line I have given above (Fast Five set 2010, TD set 2011)

Tokyo Drift is not a prequel.

I went to see this last night in the Savoy and apart from some extremely cheesy lines it's a good aul popcorn film! Really enjoyed it and well worth seeing on the big screen. Not as much racing as there is in the other films but when there is car parts, they are very well done
    (beyond unrealistic though)

Stay until the end credits as it shows a big spoiler
Monica is back and Letty is alive
    for the next film

The climax is utterly ludicrous but its a ton of fun after the more serious 4th one (from what I remember, only saw it once and its not very memorable)
how much damage did they do to Rio in the finale? they wrecked DOZENS of cars and trucks, demolished half a police station and wrecked a city bank

Saw this movie the other day. Nice, leave-you-brain-at-the-door, popcorn movie. Overall not a bad movie... Not a great movie, either, just standard action movie type stuff. I expected more car racing and "meets", like in the other Fast & Furious movies, but this movie is more about being on the run from the law. It's also a bit of a heist movie/"one last job and then we dissapear" type movie. Nice to see Joaquim de Almeida playing a badass benevloent dictator type character too.

Watched it yesterday. It was filled with plot holes and cliché moments and it had one of the worst written scripts I've ever seen. And I loved every minute of it. Thinking of going to it again with another friend because it was so damn good. And I have no idea why I liked it so much. Hell, there were hardly any car-related chases or races. The finale was awesome though.

Doesn't come close to Tokyo Drift though.

Just back from it and I have to say that it's one of the most entertaining films I have seen in a long time. It's neither big nor is it clever but it's a hell of a lot of fun and leaves you genuinely excited for the next one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,175 ✭✭✭Top Dog

Watched it Monday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife wants to see it again while its still in the cinema.

Thanks to this thread I knew to hang around for the end of the credits ... only about 4 other people did that evening, the rest emptied out of the place :D

I went to see it this evening with my friends (all girls). I'd be the most girly girl when it comes to taste in movies out of the bunch so I wasn't very enthused on having to see a film about cars particularly because I wanted to see Insidious but they were all too scared. I have to say though I loved it, I'd definitely rent it and watch it again when it's out on dvd.

Probably not until October/November,you're eager:D It's still only in cinema's.

Oh my god I saw this yesterday and it was the most awful tripe! So many plot holes that even the Rock could have walked through! (Seriously...why was he so sweaty in that flick? No ones else was!)

    The
    vault switch was obvious.
but the main question I had was why did they
go back to the warehouse that had already been raided... TWICE to sort out the vault and divvy up the money?

I seen the first movie when it came out and it wasn't so bad, and the rest were declining steadily but this... oh man! Thank god for the unlimited card!
