Woman sues her ex (45m), claims ''suffered from her husband's erectile dysfunction''

If she does win her case, itll be the first for a loveless marriage
NEWSCORE - An Emirati man was being sued for 45 million dirhams ($12.25 million) for not having sex with his wife, who claimed that his failure to perform caused her mental anguish, a court heard.

The unidentified woman said her husband did not sleep with her during the first four months of their marriage in 2008 and that she later discovered he suffered from erectile dysfunction, Gulf News reported Wednesday.

Court records filed by the woman allege that her husband, who she is now divorced from, failed to fulfil her needs.

"Considering the conservative Arab values and the woman's situation in such a society, I remained silent and tried to adapt [by] praying to God that things would improve," she said.

But the woman is now seeking 45 million dirhams in compensation and claims that the defendant -- who has reportedly been married more than 12 times -- also forced her out of her employment and stripped her of her jewelery.

The case is pending before Dubai courts.

    Article in full

Dubai: An Emirati man is being sued for Dh45 million in compensation for failing to sexually perform. The defendant's ex-wife, told the court that she suffered from her husband's erectile dysfunction while they were married.
In her civil compensation claim, the ex-wife alleged that the accused suffered from sexual impotency that resulted in failing to fulfil her needs and forced her to have what she termed as "inhumane sex". The case is being heard before the Dubai Courts.

    Damages

Court records showed that the woman is seeking Dh45 million to be paid by her ex-husband in compensation for the damages he caused to her. The woman claimed that she married the accused in 2008 and separated some 15 months later.

She said her husband did not sleep with her in the first four months of their marriage. "When he did for the first time, he treated me inhumanly and inappropriately," she told the court.

"I discovered later on that he suffered erectile dysfunction. He was exactly the opposite of what he claimed to me before we signed the marriage contract. I suffered mentally, emotionally and lost any hope to become a mother," she said. "Considering the conservative Arab values and the woman's situation in such a society, I remained silent and tried to adapt [by] praying to God that things would improve. He treated me roughly and refused to support me financially or provide me with a decent shelter. He made me resign from my work. Hence, I lost my only income. I had to borrow money from family and friends," the she said.
    No support

According to records, the ex-husband who is a wealthy businessman divorced the woman after 15 months. The defendant retained her passport, alleged the claimant, and did not pay her any support after the divorce.

"He was a sweet talker and after we got married, I discovered that he is a womanizer who married more than 12 times. Although he was a former public figure, but that didn't prevent him from allegedly manipulating decent girls and spend weeks of pleasure with them before ditching them. Following the divorce, he stripped me of all my jewellery which he gave to me as part of the dowry. I ended up being emotionally and psychologically and financially broke… I visited psychological clinics for treatment," the claimant said.

Maybe its a cultural difference, but I couldn't see said claimant winning her case through the civil courts here :pac: and on a serious note, in a court of law, I imagine the evidence may be anecdotal and not concrete enough to warrant a custodial sentence (ie her word against his?)

If you had in excess of 45 million the last thing you'd want to ride is your wife I reckon.

Marriages can be annulled by the Catholic Church for non performance AFAIK, as procreation is seen as part of the contract.

I think most people would see no sex in a marriage as a big deal, regardless of sex. This case is a bit extreme though, hence it making the news.

    A "bit" extreme???

She wants $12million because her husband had sexual dysfunction!

If a woman had Vaginismus and a man sued her for €12 because of the trauma he suffered because he couldn't fuck her, the world would laugh at him. To say you were "waiting" for such a post, as if it had no place is laughable. It was spot-on and I'm only surprised that it took until the 5th reply to so aptly point it out.

Apart for you it would seem, who made excuses for her with your 'no sex' in a marriage is as a "big deal" remark and lets not forget that according to you, this is just a "bit" extreme. Hardly what I would call "laughing" at her.

Your comment was (and still is) suggestive that the user's post was not relevant and that is wrong, it was and is.

If she wins that, then the court is basically saying that marriage = sex slavery.

If she's that disappointed with her sex life, get a divorce !

As far as I am aware, you agree a contract of 'in sickness and in health'. The man's ill, i.e. has erectile dysfunction, so she hasn't a legal leg to stand on, or at least shouldn't have in any sane legal system.

It's an absolutely terrible thing to sue over, and I sincerely hope she's counter-sued for mental trauma and public humiliation caused by her suit.

What are ye on about pete? I was making excuses for a man and a woman in that both can get a church annulment on grounds of no procreation.

Give the woman a break. He was married twelve times previously to their marriage. That speaks volumes about him in my opinion.

I'd also wonder what inhumane and inappropriate things took place that first time to enable him to get it up. If there is a pig involved I would think he would be it.

It might be a physiological thing.

She's an unreasonable bitch obviously, but surely you don't think erectile dysfunction is purely because of the woman?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,481 ✭✭✭Fremen

I think the original remark blaming the erectile dysfunction on the woman was tongue-in-cheek.

If there had been more bodyparts in more cheeks, maybe none of this would have happened.

Could've been the stress of having 12 failed marriages under his belt that caused it.

Probably because she's (the woman in the article) using what is a tentative male issue to weasel $12.25million out of this man.

True, of course. My problem with it is that when a woman is hampered because of her gender, there's a media outcry about it. No one cares when it's the reverse though.

If this happened the other way around, every blog and publication in the world would be utterly ripping the man apart.
