After moaning to a friend about wanting to shift a few extra pounds she suggested I try the cabbage soup diet, just wondering has anyone had success with it, I've read reviews online but can only find US ones. I'd imagine its not the nicest diet in the world but if it worked and it only 7 days I'd be willing to try it! I have been doing WW on and off but am completely lacking motivation, I'm hoping this would kickstart me back into better eating habits as I feel I have the exercise under control.

    Thanks all :)

Your better taking baby steps towards a cleaner diet than trying to jump into a diet such as this - where most people fail miserably.

For example, I started off with breakfast. I didn't care about the crap I was eating for other meals, I just switched the 'normal' sugary cereals and toast with porrige or eggs cooked whatever way I fancy on the morning - usually tends to be boiled and then omelletes at the weekend when I've more time. Poached eggs are beaut too.... :D

After a few weeks, you can replace the snacks with fruit and nuts or peanut butter on oatcakes (a personal favourite). I have a big bag of Trail Mix (raisins, dried bananas, other dried fruit pieces and nuts) in my desk at work which is handy.

After a while, move onto lunch. I've recently started bringing a bag of that veg that steams in the microwave to work - which I eat with tuna or chicken slices (or pieces). A salad works just as well if you don't have a microwave (I do this for variety and put white wine vinegar on it). This will remove the need for bread or rolls which a lot of people 'think' is healthy.

Continue like this and it'll not be what you consider a diet, it'll be a new lifestyle. I haven't read about the cabbage soup diet but it sounds like one of those things that'll last 2 weeks tops....

I think I heard once that the cabbage soup diet gives you really bad flatulence. :o It's not the way to go I don't think.

thanks for the replies- the good news is I've copped onto myself and have decided against the diet, I'm gonna try my best to eat healthily Mon-Fri and take weekends off (to allow for nights out but would will try steer clear of take aways etc.) The idea of losing up to 10 lbs in 7 days sounds appealing but having read the diet plan about a hundred times I couldn't inflict the smell and moodiness on those around me- day 1 of the new me starts tomorrow (I know always tomorrow never today!!)

Fingers crossed I'm not back on in a few weeks posting about a newer fad diet!!! :o
