Smackdown - The put your money where your mouth is thread (see mod post 179)

Remembering back to this thread between meno and chinguetti I was wondering would a smackdown thread be a good idea.
It would help hone those racing skills and if everyone took it in the same spirit as the brothers above it could be good fun.

How would it work, I'm not too sure, maybe some pms to one another before announcing it on the thread. If you thought 2 guys or gals from their training logs were well matched why not send them a pm and see if their interested.
Racing against someone is a great experience and only adds to the adrenaline on race day.

What you think, any ideas welcome.

claralara vs jcsmum at dunshaughlin 10k. This is a real grudge match. Also to be known as the battle for digger's banana :pac:.

Digger vs MrSlow in cork city marathon has also got a bit of needle.

Great idea. Shorter races are far bigger for this - anything up to 10k i guess.

If my memory is right, the orginial was started by others and we accepted the challenge in good spirits, as it came about after the Simon 5k epic finish last year.

Head to heads can be dangerous things.... Proper motivation is unrivaled to get you out of bed every day of the week to get in consistant training.

It works even better in a relay race, where both people want the fastest split. Makes one kick ass relay team

It's a long way away but myself, Jackyback and Brianderunner have a bet on next years Conn Ultra. I can't wait to see brain Blowing up just before the marathon mark :pac:

The chicken will likely try to back out of the bet this weekend though:

After Cork, Phoenix Park, we'll mark out a mile down furze rd and onto Ordnance Rd. Loser has to redo the mile in Claralara's heels!

Think my mouth has gotten me in trouble here again... with regard the one mile....

Think I will look for a time in July to give me a bit of time to get to an appropriate level...after all Meno has thousands of miles in his legs!

Age has nothing to do with it - if yer racing each other, all you have to do is stalk your opponent and finish ahead of them.

Tis all about the tactics and who's the smarter in a race situation
