Ha. Reminds me of our school cup finals in Croke Park. That is scandalous.

2 Double Headers would have made much more sense than 4 single games surely

Incredibly badly organised tournament. Matches should have been played on the same day. The lad at the turnstile last night was practically begging me to come in to this game.

Delaney must have been watching field of dreams. "if you build it they will come".

but delaney is no kevin costner

This could be first and last time this competition will be held, there was more at the Schoolboys international a few weeks ago between Ireland and England

    Boaz Myhill,
    Eardley, Taylor, Tudur Jones, Morgan,
Blake, Dorman, King, Vokes, Earnshaw (c),
    Jermaine Easter.

    McGregor,
    Whittaker, Caldwell, Berra, Crainey,
    Naismith, Brown, Adam, Morrison, McCormack,
    Miller (cpt).

    Where is Ramsey injured?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,987 ✭✭✭Trampas

Delaney will probably blame the ash cloud. Only for that it would have been a sell out.

If wales put some pressure on Adam when he's in possession they would shut down Scotlands midfield ability

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,460 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

    about 2,000 max at this:pac:

It's ok. Nothing special. Scotland may get more goals before the end.

My extended family would fill that section! :D I can't believe how empty the stadium is. I presume I could pick up a ticket outside on Sunday yeah?

Will the winners on Sunday be decided on head to head or goal difference anyone know?

The only way they can finish level on points is a draw so H2H wont matter, so it woulod have to be GD

Is that the actual attendance or the FAI-save-face attendance? It didn't look that much from TV anyway.

That has to include the teams, the managers, the subs, the security staff, the cleaners, the fast food vendors...

Exaggerating the crowd like that might even end up in them paying more in tax than they took in selling tickets

    Nice one Scotland, 17/20 odds!

I'm assuming its the actual attendance

Should have been held in Tallaght. Final nail in the coffin of the home nations idea.

If it been held in any other of the countries the attendances would have been as low or lower. This idea needs England and it needs to be started and finished in 3 days, a long weekend perhaps

The tournament would have worked if it had had been all double headers and all 3 rounds played over the same period rather than this joke Feb+May combo. Basically give 1 week over to it at the end of the season (2x W/E dates + a midweek).

theres no need for all the games to be in the one country either

just have a draw to see whos home and whos away

I do suspect this tournament was set up for no other reason than to create more and more meaningless fixtures for the Aviva white elephant. I'm sure FAI had dreams of 30k, 40k, 50k attendances for all of these games. They must be regretting ever bothering at this point.

Good win for Scotland!. Hope they win the cup now. Hopefully its a good turn out for what is the final.

Just looking at the highlights, that crowd looks embarrising. Why didn't they just put them all in the lower teir of the stand facing the camera. Make the place look a bit fuller.

The stadium would have tipped over.

Attendance given on RTE at 3951. They could have thrown them into Bushy Park.

That looks like a true enough figure.
600 Scots didn't make it over because of cancelled flights.

Lest not get ahead of ourselves

The new stadium at Lansdowne Rd is not and will not be a white elephant.

Not that long ago there were complaints that it was too small at 50k.

If there is a upswing in the teams fortunes I am sure you will see complaints on this and other boards that 'real fans' cannot get tickets to games.

Some of the games in this tournament however should have been played in Tallagh as you say, or possibly the RDS

    Very true.

We still have no problem filling up (if not maxing out) the stadium when it matters.

It is too small at 50k (for both soccer and esp rugby).

For all the competitive Croke park internationals (2007-2009) every attendance was above 50k except for Georgia which was close at 45k and Montenegro 37k (which was a meaningless fixture at that point and iirc it was a double buy with tickets for Italy so people couldn't even get to that game without forking out for Italy too).

That was for a team that was initially playing uncompetitive football and latterly playing sterlie rubbish. God knows how many people in this country would go see a successful Irish team playing good football, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

50k is right size for both football and rugby. Generally those that want a ticket even in the good times got them. If you buy a season ticket you will have no problem getting to games regardless of interest.

Was at the game last night and i think the official attendance of 3,900 is still pushing it.

For those of ya watching on TV ya would have seen that 1 solitary block opposite the players tunnel quite full, here's the view of the other stand that ya didn't see.

    3,900 my Arse
