Aldi Bikemate pump

Hi, this is going to sound ridiculous but I bought a Bikemate pump from Aldi but I can't open it as in I can't get it to pump! Can anyone help?

Isn't there a metal clip holding the pump in its compressed state. Clip looks like a hook. Push the footplate down and release the little hook like.
