Weight training every day?

    I bought a new set of weights about a month ago and I've been training for an hour or so a day every day ever since,I felt sore for the first day or two but just pushed through it and I feel fine now.

    Was talking to my mate who's trainer in the gym told him that it's bad to lift weights every day and to train only 3 days of the week with weights.Is this true?Am I doing more harm then good?

    How many KG's are you lifting?

    Have 10kg on each dumbell,I do the usual stuff(Bicep and hammer curls,shoulder press,lateral raises,upright rows,tricep extensions,squats,tricep dips etc.)

    Usually do 4 sets of 10 for each exercise.Rest 1 min between each set.

    If you want to do weights every weekday that's fine, but don't train the same area on following days. I personally train most areas once a week and any that are lagging twice a week.
    A lot of trainers do advise a 3 day a week full body workout and that would seem about right for beginners.

    I'd say the lack of available weight will be an issue, so maybe you'll need to invest in a bench and more weight, you can surely row/press more than you can curl.
    The point is to progressively add more weight, once you can perform a set of reps with your current weight. If you just stick with the tens then you will not really get any stronger.
    The fact that you can perform 4 sets of 10 would seem to indicate that you aren't really being challenged, a typical rep range (8 to 12) for me would be something like 12, 10, 8, 7, I absolutely could not do more than 12 on the first set and I could not do more than 7 on the last.
    I could go on and on and on about rep ranges lol, but thankfully there's probably stickies that say it all.

    I reckon you would be grand working out everyday with 10kgs.

    If they are an adjustable dumbell set, you will see more results from making one 15kg or 20kg dumbell and constantly challenging yourself.

    Definitely give each area a days rest if you do decide to increase the weight.
