Returning to the Gym

Until last week I had not been in the gym in about five years. However I am finding that it seems that my body is 'remembering'. For instance, I surprised myself that I was able to comfortably run, opposed to walk on the treadmill for 15 mins - it was challenging yes, but simultaneously it felt comfortable. I am finding that when doing some exercises I am digging in, to go that bit further - just one more push up or just one more lift etc. Yet, I am also acknowledging it is early days, so am taking it easy(ish) too, and listening to my body. I am challenging myself, but not going all out just yet. I am thinking of doing what I am doing for the next two to three weeks, and then re-evalutate then.

Any pointers for someone returning to exercise, who has been out of it for some time would be appreciated.

Just keep going, keep thinking consistency. Even if you have to bribe/lie to yourself that you'll only do a 10 minute session. The hardest part for me sometimes is just getting ready to go to the gym, once there I'm more than fine. Last year, I let an injury get me down and it took awhile to get back into the habit, whereas the year before that you couldn't keep me away from the gym. Once you keep the momentum/habit going it gets easier.
