Probably because it's easier to group together several different sexuality/gender minority groups who seek equality.

Pretty sure that everyone is aware that not all transgendered people are homosexual, but the two groups would share many similar concerns and goals.

Are homo and transphobias, really phobias though? A phobia is a condition, whereas people against others sexual orientation and gender are more of a bias, and yeah a fear of the other to some degree but I wouldn't go so far as to say phobia in most cases.
Or is it just an easy apply all term, like racist?

we've had a wave of teen suicides where homophobic bullying made their lives so unbearable they felt they only had one way out, over 40% of trans people have attempted suicide...

but god help someone start a thread about a day against this kind of thing... oh heaven help us, someone's made a thread, oh the injustice of it all! poor, poor you for being forced to read the thread. poor you for having your mouse hand held by someone else and making you click on the thread! poor you for someone holding your head and putting clamps on your eyes to keep them open, so there's no possible way you could avoid this thread!

In my own opinion, they should make a new word. Homophobia and transphobia make it seem like a fear, like something thats not the persons fault, when it isn't that at all. Its a very poorly constructed word.

What is the successsurvival rate if you dont mind me asking?I would guess pretty high and that a lot of these suicidal people are half heartedly attention seeking.

Side note:If they keep committing suicide how will their species continue?

There is a weakness mentally there.Who is to say what causes more distress to one person than another due to the issues that they have to deal with.

Just to clarify,I dont care what you are or what you think you are but Im becoming weary of people who think that every minority(no matter how ridiculous)deserves a "day".

People are persecuted from the time they enter school and made fun of for wearing glasses or being skinny or too fat.

This bullying affects people through their whole lives,yet do we hear the bleeding heart liberals supporting them?
