I remember him being linked with the Liverpool job on here this time last year. What a difference 12 months makes.

    West Ham United statement
The club can confirm that Avram Grant is no longer the manager of West Ham United

First-team coach Kevin Keen will take charge of the team for the final home match of the season against Sunderland on Sunday 22 May.

    Seems official.

Seems pointless at this stage. Owners had their chance in January to do something, failed miserably. Should have tried for Hodgson when he was available.

About time, how the man keeps getting jobs is mind boggling.

It was going to happen months ago but Jol backed out of taking the job. O'Neill had a chance to take the job too but Sullivan and Gold went mouthing off and he backed out too.

I don't know how he's lasted this long to be honest. On the one hand he's an awful football manager living off a Chelsea side that a blind man could have managed, with excellent leaders such as Terry pulling the strings. On the other hand no-one could work for Sullivan and Gold who are two examples of everything that's wrong with modern day football.

Still, he's received another severance package and will join the gravy train of managers such as Dowie and Hart who make a living from being sacked.

The next club that appoints him will be poorer for it.

That Gold guy is totally classless.

Couldn't wait to get back to London, but goes looking for a room in Wigan ground to sack him.

That's two clubs Gold has had relegated now....he's a disaster!

Can just imagine Gold in Wigan Boardroom, with Karren Brady by his side, thinking he's Alan Sugar saying
    "You're Fired".

West Ham need to change more than the manager if they are to come back!

he was very good at Chelsea and Pompey imo and didn't deserve the treatment the owners gave him at that joke of a club. He is a good manager who has gotten bad luck in the last few years, Chelsea letting him go was a mistake as they would have been better the next season with him in charge imo...

Billy Mitchell, Danny Dyer and Russell Brand for the new West Ham managerial dream team next season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,627 ✭✭✭baldbear

West ham are in a mess. Financially screwed and Robbie Keane did a crap job for them too!!! I can see West Ham staying out of the top league for a long time now.

Word from the ground now is that Sullivan met Grant in the tunnel and did the deed there

Taken from Twitter, Sullivan showing what a class act he is.

With Ray Winstone giving the team talks.

2 relegations in a row for Grant with different clubs. Ouch.

Indeed. But you can't expect ex porno boyos to be able to do the decent thing:eek:. And the way they have blown their own trumpets over the past few months would make you sick:eek:

There is more wrong at West Ham then just the manager, who was a poor appointment, regardless of how much i like him. The players have not done enough for the team this season, they rarely play as a team, for each other or the fans. Its not surprising given the types of mercenaries in the team (Upson etc..) The ownership of the club and running of it is poor imo also. Gold/Sullivan/Brady are a shower of tossers tbh and are very counter proctive with their love of the media and of flexing their own egos. The way they have handled this sacking betrays how classless they are

With the players West Ham will lose and the management structure in place, from the top it could be a long time before we see them in the Premier League again. Surely this will have an effect on the olympic stadium also? Tough times ahead for hammers fans I feel

I doubt McClaren or O'Neill would take a job with a Championship team. Hughton would be a good appointment, he's unlikely to get a Premier League job so it might make sense for him.

I know that Sullivan, Gold and Brady rate Curbishley. They were lining him up as a replacement at Birmingham a few years ago. Not sure what type of manager would want to work for a board like that

West Ham have been very poor this season with the exception of Scott Parker. I thought the owners were good at Birmingham and I've faith they'll be good at West Ham. I'd be delighted for Chris Hughton if he got the job, he did a fantastic job at Newcastle and he's an ex-hammer.

The squad they have is was clearly good enough to stay up and yet this is the side that threw away 22 points from winning positions which is utterly damning of the manager first and foremost.

It may be a while before West Ham come back up, after this.

Their problem is that, for a relegated team, they have some decent players - and a mass exodus isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Most likely, a lot of rebuilding to be done before they challenge for promotion.

Still don't see the point in sacking the manager with one game to go. Wouldn't expect much more of the owners, though.

I wouldn't mind Sunderland taking a chance on him if he could prove his fitness. However, the thing is he'd struggle to pass a medical and West Ham gambled on him staying fit as they were desperate.

They could now be stuck with an injury prone player on massive wages as he probably won't pass a medical anywhere else.

I think it is more than a possibility.

Jacobson,Gabbidon,Upson,Dyer, and Hines are all out of contract, while Obinna, Keane and Bridge will be sent back to their parent clubs. The likes of Green, Parker, Hitzelperger, Ba and Cole will be sought after by various PL clubs, while it is unclear whether the likes of Mark Noble will be here come the start of 2011-2012.

    Green

    Jacobson---Da Costa--Upson----Bridge

    O'Neill
    Noble----Parker---Hitzelsperger--Ba

    Cole

    Boffin,Tomkins,Illunga,Keane,Piquionne,Spector,Collison

Should have been able to achieve 40 points.

There will be a clearout alright. Players wanting to leave coupled with high wages can only mean one thing.

West Ham have a tremendous youth setup. I think they will be able to cope with staying in the Championship but I think it will be a while before theyre back in the Premiership.

Poor ol Avram Grant. Did so well at Chelsea and had Pompey playing half decent when players werent even getting paid and went a great cup run too.

West Ham will have it tough now I rate Grant but obviously there were some serious issues there I think they have a first eleven capable of retaining pl football but there squad is full of junk and players that would be better served in the championship.

I think the fans are deluding themselves if they believe WHU can cope in the Championship with the likes of Frank Nouble, Matthew Fry, Marek Stech and Zavon Hines. In 2004/2005 a mixture of youth (Ferdinand,Ward,Noble,Reo Coker), experience (Powell, Repka, Walker, Newton, Sheringham) quality (Ethrington,Zamora,Harewood), and Christian Dailly ensured West Ham's promotion. Such a balance MUST be found.
