Shapen up body without exercising?

    Hey folks,

I know some of you health enthusiasts will probably shout at me for this :D, but...

I'm a pretty healthy weight in general, and eat a good balanced diet with plenty of vegetables in there. There are some things that I should cut out and I could probably eat some more of other things, but in general I stuff as much salad into meals as possible, etc.

However my body shows some evidence of neglect and laziness! I've got some minor man boobage and a bit of a belly, which I'd like to get rid of.

But here's the rub: I'm a bit lazy :( I was going to a gym for a few months last year, but I didn't put in too much effort really, and just found it rather horrible and not enjoyable at all, even though I was going with 2 mates.

I know I should keep experimenting and try find something that I actually enjoy, etc., so I'll try do that too. I want to get back into playing 5 a side football, but the fitness is so shít at this stage that it would involve a few weeks of passing out and puking on the pitch before I break through and start enjoying it :p I'm not at that point yet! Will work up the balls to get into it once I get a few things sorted.

    TL;DR:
Anywho -- in the meantime, what I'm wondering is if I just look after the diet, and reduce my calory intake a good bit so that there's a net loss from daily movement, etc., would that help me lose the moobs? Or do I have to be actually doing exercise in some way to achieve that? I think I just have too large portions for my meals, and if there's chocolate in the house then I'll end up eating it. If I cut those things out/down, then would I shapen up?

    Thanks!

Resistance training if you're lazy, lifting weights etc is more suited to lazy folk than running and that sort of carry on. Eat more protein too along with all this veg to enable muscle growth.

Weight training is apparently best for toning up and building muscle. Wont do anything for your cardio though so youll find when it comes to going back to your football that youre likely to be still unfit. Even to start doing twenty minutes of cardio, running or whatever and working up from that will help gradually build up your fitness and along with weight training should help get ya on the right track! Good luck with it!

Some high intensity resistance training can offer good cardio improvement. High intensity push ups, pull ups, dips and squats and the sweat will pour off you and the heart beat will defo be increased. 10 minutes of that would offer a greater cardio workout than a 3 mile jog.

Cheers lads, but I think you're missing the main thrust of this thread: that I'm lazy!

I was more interested in whether it's possible to shapen up the body by diet alone?

    Thanks

    Short of starving yourself no.

Some press ups after getting up wouldn't kill you, less than a minute a morning would be better than nothing.

Try online poker and when you win enough, pay for some liposuction.

I'm afraid only Berbatov can be "lazy" and get away with it. ;)

if you only lose weight by dietary means you'll be losing muscle and fat weight from your body, whereas if you want to tone yourself at all you'll have to exercise to be losing mainly fat weight from your body while gaining muscle. hope that helps , I agree though the gym is boring, I started playing soccer once a week a month ago and i feel fitter already!

    Wait, what?

Are you saying that if he cuts his calorie intake in half (example) he wouldn't lose much weight?

Are you also saying that improving his diet and reducing his calorie intake, thereby reducing his bodyfat% would not improve his 'tone' ? (I'm taking tone to mean overall muscle definition)

    No.

Diet is the main determinant when it comes to your weight. Calories in vs. calories out.

Exercise and genetics determine your body composition.

If you don't have the genes, you can try any diet in the word and you'll be skinnyfat at best without exercise.

Trying some sort of sport would probably be your best bet. Loads of people can't hack the grind of gym work and that's understandable.

EDIT. Though if you say you have a bit of a belly and manboobs you could still probably lose some fat and thereby shapen up somewhat purely through a caloric deficit. Below is what a typical non-exercising person would look like at a low weight (gomrless expression notwithstanding):

You're not really going to see any of the benefits, I'm afraid. From what I've gathered, vibration plates are only good for rehabilitation, which you only need if you're putting in the work.
