Traffic restrictions for Queenie and O'Bama

I thought I'd start a thread for folks to post traffic restrictions that they encounter and how bad they are affecting the flow of cars.

I got held up today for an hour between the red cow and citywest on the N7 and never saw anything reported about it.

From what I could see they were cutting the center verge but also the Gardaí were checking the roadside and bridges

What a waste of resources and money.

Cheers for that but when I was leaving I never heard anything about it on the radio or TV.

It was a right pain though.

Hopefully the thread will be useful over the coming week for people

We heard about it at 8.30 this morning on the radio. Heard that both lanes were closed. For both lanes to be closed taught it was one serious accident. It was only tonight I read that story about the bomb scare. We avoided the area and headed to wicklow over the mountain.

The problem with it is that it is subject to change at short notice

Have to say I think its ridiculous - and I was ambivalent but more or less passively in favour of the Queen of England's visit prior to now - I don't know if this level of disruption was flagged in advance but if it was I missed it.

Its more or less going to absolutely ruin my week next week.

Indeed - and anyone hoping to follow the instructions with respect to bus transport to the UEFA Europa League Final at the Aviva Stadium (http://www.garda.ie/Documents/User/Porto%20-V-%20%20Braga.pdf) might need to invest in a time machine so as to use the number 10 bus which no longer operates....

    "Dublin Bus:
The General Dublin Arena area is serviced by the following routes:-
    Ballsbridge Serviced by:-
    - Routes 4, 5, 7, 7a, 7n, 8, 18, 27x, 45, 47

it seems like bloody madness, i didnt really care, but they seem to be taking it way to far, i dont know if obama will be the same,

they are reducing the m8 to one lane and reducing the speed limit to 100km/h from monday, but she dosent arrive till tuesday,
will the queen actually travel the m8 in a car, i assumed she would be in a helicopter to co. tipp:confused:

Before you travel, check the special AA website covering restrictions due to the visit of QE2 and O'Bama.....

    http://www.aaireland.ie/AA/AA-Roadwatch/Event-Guide/Visits-by-Queen-Elizabeth-II-and-President-Barack-Obama/Queen-Elizabeth-II.aspx

When you get near Dublin tune into Dublin City FM radio on 103.2 Mhz for live traffic updates. On Monday to Friday from 7 to 10 in the morning and 4 to 7 in the afternoon the DJ is located in the Dublin traffic control centre http://dublincityfm.ie/

Every chance you will be disrupted given that her plane lands that day at Baldonnell which is but a few miles up the N7.

Nice to hear their cutting the grass, very unsightly, hasn't been cut since the roads were open :D

Sadly we are in for a week of woe on the roads, good for those of us on two wheel travel though.

The Queen isn't going to Cork because of the traffic. Her grandson's been stuck in Middleton for 2 weeks....

It depends on the way you go and the time you go at. i don't mean for that to sound smart, so sorry if it comes across that way. If you are going though i'd advise against using the m50 (I assume you'll be coming on the N4), if you can go down the R136 (it's a relatively new road linking Lucan to Tallaght) and get onto the N7 that way. The reason i'm suggesting this is i'm 99% sure i've seen signs saying they're closing Juction 7 on the m50 (this is the n4 juction) for all of Tuesday. That said i'm probably mistaken as i can't find anything anywhere on the internet about it, but though i'd give the heads up in case.

As a few of the other posters have said though keep your eye on the aaroadwatch website and if you can't listen to the news, i'd be surprised if everything you need to know wasn't announced on it.

There's already a pretty comprehensive thread maintained here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056265453

*just to note, it's a useful and factual thread. The "hilarity" will be snipped.
