    Hey folks,

The boards Developers are working really hard this year to improve the m.boards site to make browsing forums a more enjoyable experience when you're on your phone. As part of that we will need to reduce sticky numbers in each forum as a ream of little yellow threads at the top of each page is mroe han a little off-putting. So the suggestion has come in that we have no more than three stickies, with one of them obviously being the Charter.

So, how do we re-organise the stickies? What stays and what goes?

One solution is to simply have a "Find all threads here" sticky Post that links to all the other threads which will automatically get bumped any time it's posted in.

    Any ideas from the floor?

Could I put forward the idea of a sticky sub forum.

This works in favor of the mobile users as there are no stickies apart from the charter at the top of the main page. But also makes threads which are deemed to be worth stickying easy to find. This would mean that going forward if other threads came up that folks and Mods thougth were worth being "stickyed" the moderators hands would not be tied by having to consider the mobile users.

Personally I would see this idea as a win win solution.

What do you think. Would this suggestion have any merit?

not really, because if we did it here it's something that would probably have to be rolled out for everyone who wanted it - and with 200+ forums here that's a lot of sub-forum creation :)

    Maybe keep these three?:

Fitness Charter - READ THIS BEFORE POSTING : Needed
Fitness; The Basics (Incl Diet & Nutrition) : Questions always asked
Supplements : Has the the most replies

Sorry I did not read you post fully :o

You idea of a "Find sticky thread here" would do the same job as a sticky sub forum, but without the extra overhead of modding a extra forum.

So you probably only need the Charter and the sticky reference thread at the top of the forum

My 2c is that I honestly don't think reducing the number of stickies is necessary. I use boards on my phone all the time, when I open this forum all I see is the header and first sticky anyway. Reducing the number of stickies saves me half a screen thumb rub.

If it has to happen I'd keep the charter, fitness basics and create a link sticky for the others.

    Why not have one sticky?

That sticky would be an explanation and link to the health and fitness section of the boards wiki? All the great information currently existing in the other stickies could be transferred to the wiki (bit of a job I know). Certain users could be given access to edit the wiki going forward (should be limited to certain, established/knowledgeable users imo). Once there is a good base in the wiki it can grow and develop as the forum grows.

Could even be a section in wiki of best websites, best threads etc.,

I havent read the m.boards thread for a while, but as someone who uses the phone a lot, I dunno where this suggestion has come from either. Stickies dont cause me any probs on the phone, plenty of other things do.

But for the purpose of this thread, I think you need the charter, you should keep fitness basics, and you could have a directory thread for other things of interest (women and weights, gym threads) and just keep the noise down in that directory thread so the info is easy to find.

Why not have the Charter, another important one like the supplements one or the fitness basics one, and then one just titled "Other" and all the other stuff deemed sticky-worthy can be found in there? Or would that be too messy?

I dont know about anyone else but those dropdown menus at the top of the page cause me the most trouble if im on boards on my phone.

Probably is just me though :D

Having an "important links and threads" topic would solve it as mentioned before.

I agree that stickies are not an issue on the iPhone but not being able Ro thank posts from your phone is. (unless I'm missing something)

you can definitely thank posts on m.boards on an iPhone

A supplements sub forum is warranted I think, that would remove that particular sticky. I mean the supplements thread is massive and really I think there's enough people who have enough types of questions to justify them being given individual threads. 2 points - 1. Good luck modding it! and 2. I will never go there.

That's quite a good idea. However I would also take the same position on 1+2.
