WW goal weight

At my weight watchers meeting today I asked the leader to change my goal weight up a few pounds as my scales at home (and in work) shows me 5lbs lighter than their scales. She refused to change my goal weight and said I can keep that as my own target. Shouldn't this be something I get a choice on? I left the meeting feeling a little put out since I'm paying to help me reach a target I want not once they want to force on me??

Any thoughts on this would be great as right now I feel like giving up and doing it alone.

You've a few options. I reckon your best bet would be to play it down - say nothing for a while and when you're getting near goal say to the leader that you "don't want to be too slim", that you "don't want to loose much more" and that you want your goal to be xlbs. She can't argue with that. Don't mention the scales thing again, I doubt she'd ever acknowledge her scales is wrong, think of the issues that would cause in the meeting, nobody would trust it:)

Your other option is to point out that you want a say in your own goal weight etc etc, but that might be seen as a criticism and make things awkward. I don't think it'd be worth it. Alternatively find a new meeting, or go it alone. I can totally see where you're coming from by the way, that would really annoy me too! Good luck with it.

Thanks for the help, I'll think about it before I have to go back next week :)

What is your goal weight on her scales in terms of bmi? You could tell her when you get near it that you are more comfortable at a goal at the higher end of the bmi scales, say 24.5
Personally this is what I did, the sooner I stop paying the better. I've had my gold card my 18mths now & have gone on to lose another 10lbs.
If the weight you are asking her to set your goal weight is over bmi 24.9 for you that is probably why she won't/can't. But she should have a discussion with you about it, not tell you like you're a kid.

    Hi Dotcomdolly,

My BMI would still have been under 24.9, even my doctor (who I saw last week) doesn't want me to lose more that a stone.

Well done on your weight loss :)
