ZOverstocks on Amazon and Playtrade!

  • 11-05-2011 1:15pm

I've been buying loads of DVDs on Amazon Marketplace and Playtrade from this seller. They are usually very cheap and the DVDs are used but new looking without scratches. I don't know how they do it. I'm wondering do they have one of those machines for smoothing out DVD scratches to be honest? They also do games and audio CDs I believe. Just thought I'd recommend them as they are a major seller!

I have been using Zoverstocks too and find them excellent for product and delivery. Would usually pick them from Amazon marketplace over other suppliers. They are usually the cheapest, in any case.

As regards being scratch-free, I think that other nationalities look after their "stuff" much better than the Irish. Second-hand here often means that it could be trashed.

By way of analogy, look at the way that the English look after their cars. Washing them every Sunday morning, etc.

Added 5 used Blu-ray's between £1.98 (Bruno) and £3.33 (Traitor)..

.. added £9 for shipping though which brought it up to £23.

Typical Marketplace seller to be honest.. cheap DVD's with pricey shipping!

They told me each item you order from them has to be packaged and sent separately as they come from different locations. Therefore there is no combined shipping. I've not looked at their Blu Rays to be honest. I've been buying used DVDs which are usually in great condition or as good as new...for example I got the two disc special editions of Gladiator and Batman Begins for about €2 each including postage.

Zoverstocks, complete assholes. They had reductions on some second hand games and I bought them, and then they had the cheek to tell me that all of the games I bought (4 in all) weren't in working order. Was absolutely raging, why on earth would they list the games if they never even tested it before listing it?

Either way the manner in which they emailed me was a complete joke, it was 2 weeks after I bought the games they emailed me to inform me, and took even longer to get the refund out of them.

Only dealt with Zoverstocks once - the product wasn't delivered and they ignored my emails, They basically seem to do what suits them and ignore contract and consumer rights when things go wrong.

I ordered 5 or 6 things of them before and everything arrived ok

I've ordered twice from them. Second hand game and a new DVD. Both arrived as described and no trouble from them. Yeah prices can vary alot though with these sellers.

Is there any way to browse what they sell on Playtrade?

Yes I'd like to know this also. From looking at the site I don't think so :(

They now sell electronics :) They are run by MusicMagpie over in the UK. Saw iPods up for sale on their amazon page.

    That is forced by Amazon.
    Vendors can't dictate p+p prices.

    Maybe..

Just use the BT11AA postcode and change your country to UK when ordering to get far cheaper shipping (I also use it when ordering through Amazon). I've been doing that for about a year now with lots and lots of orders, and not a single one has gone missing.

Zoverstocks are without a doubt the slowest seller on Amazon, they're often the cheapest but jesus it takes two weeks for stuff to arrive.

  • Only takes a week for me! Everytime!

    They also run www.thatsentertainment.co.uk

For a while there a month or so back, they were putting games up on that site for £2 and £3 each (you had to use the BT11AA postcode as they dont deliver to republic "technically", but it gets through fine). I mean games like Halo Reach Collectors Ed., Dead Space 2, Zelda Twiglight princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Crysis 2 L.E., NFS Most Wanted, Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, Street Fighter 4 etc. Insane bargains were had. Pity they've got their act together now. Worth checking every now and then though.

    Yeah, I do that too.

    Got a HP 16GB Class 10 SD Card for €7 from Play.com today! :D

  • I used the BT1 1AA thing with eBay and the stuff never turned up. It does work on Amazon with Zoverstocks though. I'd be wary of making an expensive purchase with it all the same. Wonder where my eBay stuff ended up? :D

Basq, what format do you enter the address with??
Have you got any link to example?
Like Adelynn Stocky Thunderstorm said, I'm skeptical about pricey purchase

Lets say hypothetically my address is the following, what would the BT1 1AA format be??

    56 Drury Street,
    Dublin 2,
    Co.Dublin,
    Republic of Ireland

West Dublin, ☀️ 7.83kWp ⚡5.66 kWp South West, ⚡2.18 kWp North East

I've been using them on and off for a few years now and have had no problems. When I can get a DVD or CD for £0.01 with postage at £1.26 I'm not going to complain about price or how long it takes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,589 ✭✭✭Reg'stoy

While I've had no problem with small packages as in CD's DVD's, I had trouble with a large coffee table size book from Play.com when using the post code. Package was bounched around from Belfast to Jersey, eventually Play refunded me the cost of the book minus the postage.

As siad before me, I'd have no problem using it for small cheap items but I'd err on the side of caution with anything big or pricey.

I honestly don'y have a clue how they make money selling at 1p an item on some things. do you think they have a deal with Royal Mail and get cheaper postage?

Id imagine companies like amazon, play, zoverstocks etc. pay a yearly sum that allows them to send as many packages as they want in that year or something like that.

Used them before and got a game for about 6 euros. They then cancelled my order saying unavailable. Got refund.

It was for sale again at a higher price about 2 hours later.

Unscrupulous feckers:mad:. wouldn't bother with them again.

As an occasional seller on Amazon and Play, I know Zoverstocks well. They have an automated price changer that sells below the cheapest seller by 1p. I have used that knowledge to my advantage when I buy stuff ;)
