I heard last week that Nigel De Jong did kickboxing quite seriously but I kind of get the feeling that Vidic would kill anyone.

    Who is it?

Kicking somebody doesnt make you hard. As much as people hate him, John Terry gets up and plays on after anything.

Probably the only Arsenal player that could be mentioned is Verm who actually looks like a serial killer.

Naaaaw.....Nasri is the man....he fookin flatttened Joey Barton and Barton didn't come back.

I hear Nasris' favourite line to an opponent is "hey, maybe some day I'll be walking round your town and pass your house....maybe I'll throw a grenade in your window where your family live.....maybe I'd do that......if I didn't like you".

Remember reading a while ago someone asked who he most feared coming up against and he said when you play street football in Marseille you play against some players who carry knives when they play so I'm not afraid of anyone now, sounded scary as ****.

For me, I would not like to be in a fight with Micah Richards thats for sure.

Ibrahimovic has had a black belt in taekwondo since he was 17. He's as strong as an ox too, but I wouldn't say he's "hard" exactly.

Gattuso has to be in with a shout.

Adriano threw the odd punch or 2 when he was with Inter, i'd say he could yake a few hits too.

No way he's full of sh*te. Remember him going off on a stretcher in a cup final a few years back. He made out he'd a serious head and neck injury. Nothing at all wrong with him. Walking around in a suit an hour later !!! WTF!:pac::pac:

He'd want to be, he found the bodies of his Ma and Da when he was 13, his Da killed his Ma and then himself apparently. As with any real football hardman, he also did time for assault

He's no Lily Robbie Savage though. Only a real hardman gets an Armani tattoo

Pssst... He pretty much ended Possebon's career at United. We don't associate with him. Was very dirty.

I don't think anyone who has yet to serve time, and I don't mean the Keane/Gerrard style night in the cells, should be considered for this thread

I disagree because the majority of footballers that have served proper time and are labelled as ''hard men'' have committed cowardly acts such as beating up kids and stubbing cigars out in their team-mates eyes.

These days I don't really associate the word hard man with any footballers. In reality the hardest would probably be the likes of Zenden who are experts in martial arts and would drop most in a split second.

From back in the day though, the likes of Souness, Whitehurst, Hunter, Harris etc, I'd love to see them come up against the players that are labelled hard men these days such as Barton and Gattuso. The modern day footballer wouldn't last two minutes.

Regardless of his cowardly acts, I still reckon Barton is a hardman. That video of him knocking lumps out of a lad in Liverpool shows that

I'm not glorifying it, just saying that he's not someone I'd mess with

I reckon the real hard men are the one's who were dragged up and have the attitude, not the lads who jump around in their pyjamis in the local community school every tuesday evening

I agree to an extent, though I reckon the likes of Big Dunc would be well able for them. I'm sure everyone's heard of the unfortunate burglar who targeted his house

The toughest guys are the ones who don't need to show it all the time, but would f*cking kill you stone dead if they absolutely had to. The likes of Vidic, Bruce and Stam.

Barton isn't hard, he's a short arse coward who likes to give the impression he's hard, which means in reality he probably isn't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭ForeverYoung90

Vidic for me anyway, see the goal he scored against Chelsea to clinch Man Utds 19th title after Arsenal flopped yet again in the title race overtaking Liverpool for the all time record.Ah ya had to get that in there.VIDIC IS A HARD MAN.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Pepe hands down - chap should be in an asylum - how he was ever allowed play football after the Casquero incident is baffling.

EDIT: Actually more likely the biggest nutter to play the game as opposed to hardest though he certainly likes to act hard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,762 ✭✭✭jive

Can't really pick the hardest but some nutters make the best hard man e.g. Pepe, Barton, Gattuso etc.

nutters just don't give a fuck and they're funny to watch

    Nah, I can't agree that Barton's hard.

In that video he pushes a drunk man who slips, and then he proceeds to jump on him and hit him repeatedly whilst he was on the ground. I've yet to see or hear of him fighting someone fairly (ie someone who wasn't a kid, drunk, on the ground, or from behind). He's a classic example of one of these modern day hardmen that the likes of Souness would have eaten for breakfast.

I agree about Ferguson and I'd class him in the same bracket as the old school lads to be honest mate, although his actions weren't exactly saintly either.

I'd say Richie Dunne would be handy enough. David Batty was a tough nut back in his day, unfortunate surname though.

Vidic and Stam fair enough, not sure about Steve Bruce though. Just because he always seemed to wear a bandage around his head isin't enough IMO
