    Hey Guys,

    this is kind of embarassing but I always get a little gasey when working out in the gym & find I've been letting off rotten farts when performing lifts like the squat. I'm really afraid one day I will rip shart myself in the gym :o

    Any advice plz?

    You need to either treat (as above) or find the dietary cause of your 'issues'.

    If you think back is there any time when youre more prone to it than others? i.e. certain foods setting it off.
    You could just do what I do and em......lower the pressure during warm up!! :rolleyes:

    High protein diet will do that to you! Especially if your drinking a shake before training! im always dropping bombs and the smell is horriffic! i could think of worse things to have then a dose of the farts!

    Yeah I think it may be the protein,

    I once had a shake after training and was farting rotten, eye-watering stinkers for the rest of the night....

    Had no choice but to "Dutch-Oven" the Mrs. she nearly passed out :eek: thought I was gonna have to ring a ambulance.

    I often wondered when you get a dose of the farts is the protein actually getting absorbed by the body or is part of it just passing through and getting digested by farting bacteria?

    A lot of it has to do with unabsorbed sugars. Lactose is one that people tend not to absorb as well as other sugars due to a lack of beta-lactamase enzyme.

    I suppose what I could do is wait until I am doing my sprints to "release"? Surely it would act as a boost similar to those arrows in Mario Kart

    Yeah I presumed it was normally a sugar or carb related thing but lately Ive stopped drinking 4L of milk a day and gone back to shakes and found I had to ease back on the amount per shake-3 scoops per shake had me stinking so went down to 2 scoops and no bother now
