Absolutely exhausted

    Hi all,

A quick one for ye. For the last month or so I've finally found my exercise motivation and have done at least 30 minutes of exercise almost every day for the last month. Before this I would do 30 minutes of light exercise twice or three times a week.

I've been trying to alternate between a day of light exercise and a day of tough exercise but generally I do what I feel capable of. I've had loads of energy since I started this and I feel fantastic but yesterday I took a 'day off' of exercise and now today I am exhausted. I'm so tired I'm afraid to blink because I might fall asleep. All my limbs feel like lead and I have no energy.

There's a cold going around work so I want to check if how I'm feeling could be exercise related before I reach for the cold medicine! I'm also afraid of exercising too much and overdoing it. I'm just loving how exercise makes me feel right now and I look forward to getting out every day! :D

What do you do for these 30 mins? How have your sleep patterns been?

Id listen to your body. If you feel sleepy, then get some sleep. It could be your body needs a bit of catch up, or it could be youre coming down with something. Either way, rest a little and see how it pans out. One or two days off wont do you any harm, youll get back into it.

I understand that feeling when the minute you take your foot of the (training) pedal you seem to get tired, but you need recovery as much as you need to train. Yes, elites and people with a really strong base can train every day, but thats a whole other level.

I do a bit of everything! In terms of 'hard' exercise I've been doing Couch to 5k and I go to Curves as well. 'Light' exercise is walking, cycling and hiking. I try and do a lot of different things to keep it varied!

I'm not tired at all now. It passed after a few hours. The only time I'd felt tiredness like I did this morning is when I've pulled an all-nighter or something! I was worried that it was a sign that I have overdone the exercise and didn't want to push myself further if I needed a break. Like you said, I'm just going to listen to my body and see how I get on.
