    Hi,

Does anyone have any recipes for healthy treats to have along with my coffee?

I currently take these http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp?bmUID=1304865919372 which, when you read the description, appear healthy but on looking at the ingredients, sugar is the second item listed which is always a bad sign.

I'm thinking something with 70% Cocoa Chocolate might be a good idea but would be grateful if someone could offer up suggestions.

Regular-contributor-here Transform's paleo energy bars are pretty spectacular with coffee (or any other way!):

    Thanks.... they look good.

I'll give them a go.. obviously, I wouldn't want one with EVERY coffee - I work them out at around 360 calories per bar (assumming 12 per batch). This sounds a lot but it's really only 60 above a snickers bar and ALL are from healthy sources.

Being nowhere near Dublin, the coconut oil is the only area where I might have a problem. Unless anyone has a better suggestion, I might order this Coconut Oil from myProtein which will be good for 3 batchs.

If anyone is ordering from myProtein, feel free to use my referral code MP289427 for 5% off your first order.

Hey, that's pretty much exactly what I came up with!

It's not unheard of out in the sticks; I can get it in Portlaoise! :D
You'll usually find it in health and/or ethnic food shops.

Nakd bars are fantastic. You can get them in tesco, and they're made from all raw foods, no added sugar, no processing etc., generally made from dates and other fruits. The apple pie one is yum!

Just in case anyone's interested, I spend some time looking through the nutritional information of various things in my local shop today.

The healthiest I could find of the pre-packaged stuff is this: http://www.nairns-oatcakes.com/our-food/oat-biscuits/

    Anyone any thoughts?

Ah yeah, they're spot on as a coffee treat. It's just hard not to eat lots of them. :D

lol.. yeah, I bought a packet of the Mixed Berries ones... delicious and only 86 calories for 2 biscuits (from better sources than a lot of comparable biscuits).

I also bought two 100g bars of Green and Blacks 70% Cocoa chocolate which I'll be trying tomorrow. It's years since I've had dark chocolate. Even if I love the stuff - it's too expensive to scoff down :)

my recent batches of paleo bars with added whey protein are going down a storm with clients - just some added whey protein isolate from myprotein.

    Totally delish and all uncooked!!

Thanks Dominic... I'll definately be giving those a try at some point.

I might have a look about Derry at the weekend to see if I can find some coconut oil and, if not, I'll order some from myProtein.

You can get nice tasting 72% stuff in lidls for next to nothing. I only buy one a week because I savage it when it's in the house. :)

The Lidl JD Gross 81% is the nicest of the supermarket chocolate imo. Pity it is only 81% and not higher though :(

I couldn't find any in my local dunnes, tescos or sainsburys. However, I picked up some of this in Holland and Barrett's half-price sale today.

Now just to get the rest of the ingredients the next time I'm in Sainsburys :D

I got my (organic virgin) coconut oil and almond butter yesterday, I'm going to get the rest of the ingredents today and see if I can make it up. How long does it take to set? Going spinning with with sue at 5 and was going to give her a piece.

Also I remember I used to make a chocolate mousse with dark chocolate and eggs, which wasn't bad, smelled awful because the eggs weren't cooked. And the folding (egg whites) was sometimes difficult.

Thanks, I picked up some of that, am going to try it for the first time today when cooking almond pancakes.

    Are the Paleo treats freezable?

They were lovely, unfortunately the kids did not like them but hey ho, they got to have them with maple syrup the lucky beggars.

EileenG has a low carb muffin recipe. Gonna try that later.

I can imagine a muffin with real butter would be a nice treat.

Muffins came out horrible the other day. I think it was the M&S coco I had. It was way too dark and bitter for them. I also should've put some spenda in.

Decided to make almond meal pancake again and my god they are lovely if you put in some spenda and cinnamon. There is party going on in my mouth
