Groves has genuinely messed with Degales head. Degale is too dumb to rise above it.

But none of it matters really, Degale is technically far too good for Groves. No matter how much of a flute he is.

DeGale will win this fight very very easily. Early enough stoppage.

DeGale is a far superior boxer. I'd like Groves to win but i can't see it happening.

Still hate the fact he beat Darren Sutherland in the olymipics.

RIP Darren. Still think Darren could of went far:(

DeGale is good- would love his face to be rearranged though

in 1, ive never seen a fighter get under anothers skin so well.

in that video even Frank Warren has to come degales defence, and i personally dont think thats a good sign,

the hate they have is palpable, i for one can barely contain myself in the lead up to this fight, i havent looked forward to a fight this much since maybe Hatton vs Paquiao

my head says Degale, but my heart wants Groves.

DeGale is a moron, but he's got the beating of Groves. Technically he has him.

Degale is one horrible individual, would dearly love to see Groves win but can't see it happening

very decent bloke by all accounts, Degale.

He is seriously being wound up by the nonsense Groves has been spouting about the amateurs. Some of his statements are ridiculous in fairness, such as the claim that Degale left the gym to avoid Groves. He left to train with a more elite squad FFS
Its funny though, Degale hasn't got the brainpower to pick Groves arguments apart in a constructive manner. Which would kill Groves altogether. All Groves has is the great ability to wind Degale up.

When they get in the ring, we will see just how far ahead Degale is.

Groves doesn't even look like he's good at winding people up, it's just Degale doesn't have the mental capacity to fight back... if you'd never seen him box and went on what few interviews DeGale has had, you could easily make the assumption that is mentally handicapped.

    "Ugly Kid your breath stinks"

    A boxing classic for sure

DeGale isn't liked by a lot of people actually. It was DeGale doing the stirring initially once this fight was announced . If you are prepared to dish it out you can't complain if someone responds . Anyway DeGale might not be adept at the verbal jousting, but he will be superior where it really matters.

Degale will beat him handy. 3rd/4th ko. Degale is a bit of a dick but a class boxer. Groves is uk title level, plus he has that Adam Booth in his corner, Christ I hate that guy.

While I agree that Groves is the more likeable of the two (which isn't too hard) I have been feeling for quite a while that he is a bad knockout waiting to happen. And this is probably the fight it will happen in.

His exaggerated upper body movement and footwork is so energy-sapping and also means he has to launch his counters from farther away while being slightly off-balance. And as if that isn't bad enough he does it all with his chin sticking up a mile.

Compare that to de Gale's subtle slipping, blocking and footwork which leave him in perfect position to nail his opponent regularly with punches from all angles which he can throw effortlessly from either stance.

I don't normally do precise predictions but I'm quite confident in this one.

I think de Gale will stand his ground, then start pushing Groves back pretty early. Groves will move a lot and most of his punches will miss, some wildly. de Gale will start picking him off and as Groves gets caught more he'll start flinging his punches wilder and wilder (particularly his left hook) and get caught with a short quick counter which will land before his, giving the 'double power' effect and down he'll go. He'll definitely have the heart to get up, but he'll be finished off handily.

As far as I know this is Box Office. What a joke. Hey, I wanted to see it, and Nathan Cleverly, but Box Office?

+1 box office is a total joke(another haye/fraudly robbery). on the other fight would like to see cleverly win, seems a decent skin.

you have to take your hat off to that wart frank warren for coming up with another muck fight and having ppl talk about it like its some kind of unification bout. advertised to the last THE GRUDGE, its lol tastic. The other warts sky only too happy to bang that sh!t out there.

as for the 2 in question, degale is a decent boxer but there is more going on inside a tennis ball than his head, trying to be a character with charisma, what a tit, epic fail.
Groves is a substandard boxer who is clever enough to know that this will be his best payday in his career and is going along with it.

Yeah I think as part of the contract Warren has with Sky he has to do so many pay per views every year.

Some classis comments about DeGale lads and got to agree he's def the more rounded boxer and Groves ain't at his level yet. Groves has def wound him up thou

Was actually going to order this for both fights.

    Not anymore,

    EddieHearn Eddie Hearn
SKY just reported the Cleverley fight is off as Braemer has pulled out with injury so they have made Cleverley the Champion! Dear oh dear

Surely Groves - DeGale will just be on Sky Sports now?

They can completely forget about a PPV now, an absolute joke if they try to keep it.

Tony Bellew has said he's been contacted and to watch this space....

DeGale should win this without much trouble. Groves is just not up to it.
His stamina I feel will let him down. Groves poses more than boxes

I had been tempted, but after watching a bit of James and George, I see it as a comfy win for James. Cleverley-Bellew? Forget it...No way am I buying this event

DeGale is sum muppet, his trainer whispering in his ear telling him what to say,i hope Groves beats him now after the bet they have placed with each other, wont happen though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭cowzerp

The bet is just wrong, sure corners etc have to be paid out of it so loser would be paying for the fight-in these fights it would make sense if the just said 10k bet or something..

That was a great press conference for Frank Warren + Sky Box Office.

You could see Warren sitting there when Bellew and Cleverly started piping up, thinking to himself, go on lads keep going, this will draw a few more in!! :)

Degale betting his purse with Groves and had to laugh at Groves! I don't think he even knew what he was shaking on!!

Still not paying for the night though I'd love to see the bouts after this press conference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

How can these fights be Box Office fights,a bit of a joke imo,Kahn is the biggest fighter in England atm and even his last fight was removed from Box Office due to lack of sales

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,426 ✭✭✭clubwelly

Dead right Batesy Groves hadn't a clue!

Warren must be counting the pounds cos this fight is sold out and the press conference will have sucked in more people to buy it.
I recon Clev will ko Bellew and DeGale will run around the ring picking off Groves to claim a points victory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭gene_tunney

Degale and Cleverly are the obvious favourites, but having seen those press conferences I hope the two underdogs win. I'd love to see Degale get knocked out - didn't like the way he came across.

I agree with you. All degale said is he'll cover his purse....WTF is that supposed to mean?!

its going to be a dirty fight .

Whoever starts losing this one will be sinking a few low blows and elbows .......

Degale said 'winner takes all' in the interview later . which seems fair

could be a publicity stunt , dont know how legally binding that bet would be

Cleverly v Bellew is off. Bellew nearly a stone overweight. No chance of making it.

Cleverly fighting some east European no mark now instead.

Breaking - Cleverly to fight Aleksy Kuziemski for WBO light-heavyweight title after Tony Bellew failed to make weight #ssn”

that extremely dodgy. Surely, they must have known the bloke wasn't going to make the weight. A stone over weight isn't even marginal. Bit of a PR disaster for Frank Warren and Sky.

This WBO light heavyweight title is a pure joke at this stage.

Surely SURELY they cannot be putting this on Box Office now?

id pay €50 to see the Degale and Groves fight,

call me silly, but id nearly give my left testy to see it,

i hope to god that Groves sparks Degale, i know it wont happen, but it would be absolutely ****ing briliant!!!

and that Jim McDonald came across a right snidey little **** in that press conference today, i always thought he was better than that, he's actually a proper little sap isnt he
