Seems like a pretty good deal. Got Inspiron 17 from outlet a few months ago for 100 euro dearer!

It does look very decent for the price. Just checking Dell there and the nearest I can find is €580 and it's a lower spec than this, less RAM, smaller battery and intel integrated graphics. I wonder what the catch is.

The screen size would put me off a little though, and the fact that it's glossy but that's really just nitpicking.

    Agreed, it's a bargain alright!

Only thing is dont expect to get it any time soon, I think the last laptop deal iBood had, if you read the thread on bargain alerts, people are still waiting for the laptop, about 2 weeks later!

Thread on HUKD about it here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dell-inspiron-17-3-inch-laptop-4gb-500gb-i3-370m-1gb-ati-hd-5450-2-year-warranty/933708

So did I until they weren't.

And if they're not then you won't be able to get a response from them. You wont be able to get a delivery date for it.

And they will have taken the money from your account

    PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Other than screen size are there any advantages of this laptop over this one:
    http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_Edge_15_1079088.html

It's pretty much the same price delivered.

    After a very quick compare...
    Dell pros
    17.3" screen
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450
    9 cell Battery

    Lenovo pros
    Slightly faster CPU
    Wireless N
    Extra year of warranty

    Looks like a great laptop.
Sick of the site now, tried mobile, latop and still can't get past the pay page! Really annoyed.

After years of using dell's I wouldnt touch them right now. The last batch that we got in had a horrendous build quality.

    Ya? Why is that?
I have been buying them for the last 12/13 years and never had bother. Since the moved to Poland I wonder if the quality has dropped.

We had generally used them over the last decade on found them very reliable, Possibly the relocation hasnt worked out for them very well. Simply put if we had known then how many problems we were going to have we wouldnt have touched them this time around

Ah Crap Bambi! I'm bought one a couple of hours ago, thought it was a pretty good deal. We have always bought dell too and found them grand. I'm currently using an almost 6yr old laptop which I will now pass on to the kids.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭lpool2k05

Always buy dell and never had an issue...Bought one at xmas and its faultless! No matter what the product is, your always going get a bad batch...just unlucky :)

I changed to HP after been with Dell for 15yrs, Find them both the same really, Foxconn 'Assembles' HP laptops in mainland china for all over the world

The Dell laptops that are 'Assembled’ in Poland by Foxconn are no differently 'Assembled’ then the laptops that were 'Assembled’ in limerick the only differance is the lower end laptops are now assembled in Mainland china

Just got a confirmation email from iBood that my order has shipped along with a UPS tracking number.
Good service (this time) it seems.

It does mention that it can take up to 24hrs for the tracking number to be recognised by the tracking system.

Try now - a shipping label has been created for mine

Laptop arrived there today. Cant wait to use it later on after work.
It took 6 working days to deliver to me, so not too bad at all. Im half tempted to get another laptop from Ibood but ive heard some bad stories from some other people who ordered laptops from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,537 ✭✭✭SickBoy

Just informed mine arrived also, looking forward to putting it through it's paces.
    Goody goody goody :D

Anyone who got their laptop please check something for me.
According to the iBood description there was a 2 year collect and return warranty on the unit but when I checked my service tag on http://support.euro.dell.com there was no warranty associated with it.
Use this link to check warranty status

Yeah it lists the country as netherlands too! No warranty or service contract. Have you been in contact with ibood?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,537 ✭✭✭SickBoy

Not yet, I wanted to make sure if wasn't just me seeing things first.

Did you register the laptop? I registered it and got an email

    Dear Customer
    Thank you for contacting Dell.
The Original owner information provided in the last request is not matching with our records. Kindly fill the online form www.dell.com/dhs/globaltagtransfer again with express service code along with additional information (e.g. Express Service Code, Country of current registration if the product was transferred from one region to another, Name of the store if purchased from a retail store, auction id if purchased through online auction) in the comments box.
    We appreciate your cooperation.
    Regards,
    International Tag Team

I did this last night and havent heard back since.

Have you heard anything back from Dell yet McLove? I got the same email today as you did a few days ago. I filled in the form again, but this time just mentioning that the old country was netherlands, and new country ireland.
I picked netherlands because the box said netherlands on the outside. I'll see how I get on so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Just after getting to use the laptop yesterday and i've encountered 2 problems, 1 being major.

The first is that it won't ask for the security key of some wireless routers for some reason, not sure why but i find plugging it in and then out and after a few attempts it'll ask for them.

The second is very serious. It keeps crashing when i stream videos. I forget if youtube is one but megavideo and videobb are. I'll be watching a dvd later so i'll see f it does the same. It just crashes and you can hear the audio buzzing. only way to get it back is to shut it down manually.

Trying to sort out the warrenty now. :(

I might have done it wrong, but i just put my own name for previous owner and also for current owner.
I thought the problem finding the service tag was just happening because dell were searching the ireland database of tags.
And if they search netherlands they might find it.
Im not sure though, I'll put up anything i get from dell up here.
Let us know if Ibood respond back.

Be careful about Lenovo warranties. Depending on the model your warranty would be "mail in", i.e. you have to post the laptop to their repair center and pay for the postage. Anyway, manufacturers extended warranties are ****. I'm not sure if it's Lenovo or Asus but one of them covers you for parts on the 2nd year but not for labor. I'd suggest you all read through the warranty terms before considering it a decision point.

Just checked the warranty on my system again there and it seems to have been updated, maybe iBood have registered all the laptops automatically?
Description	Provider	Start Date	End Date	Days Left
    CAR DELL 23/03/2011	24/06/2013	758
    CAR DELL 23/03/2011	24/06/2012	393

Thats good, so theres no need to wait for a response from Ibood :pac:
