Katie Taylor gained an emphatic 23 – 2 win over World No 8 and German 57kg Champion, Maike Klueners in tonight’s ‘top of the bill’ contest at the Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal.


Klueners tried very hard throughout the contest and fought a gallant fight but to no avail against the three times World Champion from Bray.


Michael Davitt , the WRH General Manager said of Taylor’s win tonight:
“ A Commanding performance and in charge at all times despite two impressive counterattacks”.



For Katie Taylor this was yet another excellent showing as she heads for Katowice later this month to defend her European Union crown.

Her next fight is on Wednesday next at the Ardmnore Studios in Bray when she meets Sweden's Helena Falk. That is her last fight in Ireland before she sets off for Poland (Katowice) later this month where she will be seeking a 4th consecutive European Union title.


For the Bray fight your best bet is to contact Bray Boxing Club on Monday and see if any tickets available - likely that they are as the fight has only just been announced. I do not have the contact telephone number to hand but you should be able to find it in telephone directory or from Directory Enquiries.(or perhaps someone else on this forum can give you a contact phone number)

Deadly! Applied for tickets to the Women's boxing final at the Olympics..I'm confident she'll get there.

Ah, she's a great girl. Needs some public speaking lessons though, she'll have tons of interviews coming up for Olympics and if she goes pro and gets sponsorships. One of the videos there of her skipping and punching for 30 seconds, the speed of her jabs is phenomenal! Scary. She's such an asset to this country, makes me proud to be from Bray, haha!
