The question is in the title really.

Can you lose weight running a weekly rather than a daily calorie deficit?
I don't mean starving yourself regularly - but I regularly do some long cycles burning up to 3k calories meaning I would generally run a weekly deficit rather than daily.

    thanks

If you have a weekly def, you will lose weight. You simple can't maintain weight on less calories than you burn.

However, you need to accurately calulate calories burned/consumed. On the days you are cycling, I would imagine you want to take in more cals than average. I know i'm always more hungry on training days

agreed - over the course of the week you should drop weight but again most people underestimate how much they eat

For control purposes a daily calorie deficit is easier to manage. I read recently though that when you excercise your body still burns calories up to two days later! If you consider this and factor in your huge calorie burning session i think you should probably focus more on a weekly deficit!
