    Hi there,
Im in a bit of a stick here...
Im trying to lose some fat while also gain fitness preseason. Currently about 13% BF eating a high protein diet.
Strenght wise, im happy enough and my speed/power is coming too but im a long way fitness-wise where i want to be.

I think its mainly down to the fact that im not eating much in the way of carbs (ie pasta) bar fruits and veggie's.

Nothing but pasta seems to give me the gas to go for a full game, but in the same breath is wont help me cut...
    Any idea's?
    Thanks!

just work out the calories you need for a cut and include carbs into that number.you can still lose fat while eating carbs.....you need them for both your training and your games.

keep your protein at about 1.5grams per lb of lean body mass
keep your fat intake at about 25% of your daily calories
    the rest is carbs

give all 3 parts of this a read: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/fat-loss-for-athletes-part-1.html

Carbs are important for athletes. Any attempt to shift fat while seriously restricting carbs (as it sounds like you are) and training hard will result in feeling horrible in my experience.

Having some carbs pre-game has a two fold benefit: It allows you to push yourself during the the game, thus burning more calories. Also, because you've pushed yourself harder, you'll benefit through increased fitness. This in turn allows you to push yourself harder in future (again burning more calories).

It's not a 1:1 payback (i.e. by adding 100 calories worth of carbs, you're not going to burn an extra 100 during the game) but I just found trying to train without carbs to be the absolute horrors. Would rather chew my own toes off.

Doesn't have to be pasta either. Use a carb source that you like. Pasta is more or less crap anyway.

Pasta seems to be the only thing that really gives me huge boost in games. Potatoes etc just arent the same...
And it seems that for best results i have to eat pasta the night before...

So im in a quandry. Trying to lose fat, but training all the time so have to eat pasta every night...

Dont get me wrong, im not fat, but i want to be under 10% BF
Maybe i'll just have to let that goal slide for a while...
