Do Irish women long to be British?

Do Irish women long to be British, subconsciously at least? The outstanding interest from many women here in the British royal wedding got me thinking this. Or is it just a cheap obsession with celeb culture?

    Women like weddings

    Women like the celeb ****e

Combine the two with extensive coverage and most men wish they would shut the fúck up

Stupid people have a cheap obsession with celebrity culture. I'm sure most Irish women don't care about it.

No - we're just smart enough to be looking forward & getting on with life instead of being stuck in the past with the RIRA brigade.

Either that or we're just romantics at heart & love a good love story/wedding

What makes a person 'British' exactly, may I ask? You made two completely unrelated sentences.

It's not about being stuck in the past. I'm not a nationalist. But I don't recall such obsession with the Swedish or Dutch royal marraiges

I'd say they try to be American more than British. The number of absolute lyke total retarrrds you hear with Americanised accents is hilarious.

Why do all Irish people always make so many generalisations?

Only the west brits, the GAA fans, the women, the nationalists, the boggers and the loony left do that.

Good point in fairness. But sport is universal, unifying, barrier breaking, etc. British royality or any royality for that matter is about eliteness and pomp

Seriously keith at this stage no one gives a fcuk you basically wade into every thread and say something which screams "LOOK AT ME I'M DIFFERENT!!"

You are coming across as incredibly insecure with your need to constantly point out that you are different to us feens.

  • What on earth is this obsession on AH with people wanting to be British? Almost all my Facebook friends (from about 50 different countries) have written something about the royal wedding today, do they all want to be British? Perhaps it's just a big event and those who are into big weddings and fashion are interested in it?

Either do the soaps. Or blockbuster movies. Are they cheap too, and shold we adopt a sneering condescension to those who enjoy them?

I dont think women in general care about their nationality as much as men do....they are quite happy just to get on in life leaving the political garbage in the background.

Weddings are pretty universal too, as are fantasies - just go back to your fairy tales and how many of them have Fairy Queens or Princesses just waiting to be rescued or Handsome Princes to be kissed and longed for. And very few of them came from Britian - the most prolific writers were Hans Christian Andersen (Danish) and the Brothers Grimm (German).

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I think some people just like the spectacle.

I mean I cannot fathom how people can still openly support what can only be described as Britains biggest scroungers.

When you look at the high rate of poverty in england it beggars belief that something as immoral as this can still be accepted.

Still, I loike tewtally lurved her dress loike lulz.

Always felt Irish women were far more anglicized than men. They seem to buy a lot into british concepts like the royals, the tabloid culture, the reality tv obsession etc.

Maybe if the Swedish & Dutch Royal families were in the media in Ireland & England more often there would be more interest. As for William & Harry, being around the same age as them I feel like I've grown up with them thanks to the media, so it feels natural for me to be interested in such an important day in their lives. Doesn't mean I want to be British, I don't. But that doesn't mean that I have to ignore everything to do with our nearest neighbours

Yet you felt the need to say it again.

I would say 4,560 of your posts are you going on about how British you are.
Now would be a good time to STFU about it.

This is what makes women women. They like purely whatever the media obsess over and is seen as a valid reason to not follow something they are aware of purely because the media don't provide a big enough fuss about it.

The interest in the british royal wedding isn't so much a yearning to be british, its them being drawn to something with massive hype and gossip potential around it. I say they're anglicised in a sense because they're far bigger into this sort of artificial gossip culture thats rampant in the UK.
