Anybody any experience of this protein, made from brown rice (non whey) its pretty pricey, getting some good reviews but just wondering if anybody was taking it for weight training. cheers

Any reason you want to take it over whey?

well i have just really stumbled across this, i have taken whey for a good 10 years now and whilst relatively happy it does make me feel bloated although i don't mind this, however studies from food scientists etc suggest that of a 24g scoop of whey only 14% - 20% is absorbed by the body and its actually quite hard work on the kidneys, now again this is another study but there is a lot of support for this and it is now claimed that brown rice proteins are absorbed a lot better and generally much healthier for you than dairy based wheys. So basically i am thinking about giving it a go, im neither for or against any of the above points, cheers

    Interesting...

What studies show whey is poorly absorbed?
What studies show rice protein is absorbed better?
    Who's funding those studies?

All genuine questions but I'm tired and don't feel like fleshing thme out :)

Id be curious to know is it a complete protein or is it missing some of the amino acids needed for muscle synthesis?
On the bloating Ive just gone from GOMAD back to whey and I cant get over how tight my mid section now feels compared to when I was on the cow juice, so maybe its relative or maybe its the brand of whey?

I presume the bio availability of rice based protein is somewhat lower than that of whey based protein.

IMO, the fact that rice based protein is not widely used says more about it than anything else.

The second link you have is a video of the owner of sun warrior protein, slightly biased id say

The dr brian clement guy seems to have a chip on his shoulder with whey....i think he came out last year sometime demonising all supplements as evil

Plus 50 quid for one kg??????

I quick google brings up his organisation.
Basically dedicated to promoting a vegan lifestyle. Hence, rice protein. To me that's case closed on the matter.

The second vid was posted by a raw foodist, which is closely related to veganism, rice protein processing very close to being totally natural and "raw'. Case closed there.

Basically, these people have agenda to fill. I'm pretty sure whey is the best absorbed/bioavailible. Egg is sst as the bench mark of 100, Whey is a good bit over 100 .
Rice protein isn't as complete as whey as it lacks lysine [sp?], nor is it as bioavailablem, 74.
