Hi,

I am very interested in learning to sail and am wondering if anyone could recommend how to get into it?

I am more than happy to offer my services to crew to get some experience etc and have a car so am happy to travel

I see Clontarf are running an "introduction to sailing" course at the end of May. This is a great way to try out sailing and how a club feels. Might be worth checking out.

Crew match party on 18th May in Royal St George YC Dun Laoghaire. Dont be put off if you have no experience. If you are willing to commit to sailing every week you have a good chance of getting a spot on a boat.

Hi all,

My son (10) has undertaken 3 sailing camps with www.inss.ie over the last 3 years, loves it and now really wants to join a club etc. Two problems:-

1. I have no sailing experience whatsoever and no interest in taking it up as a hobby nor do I have any family or friends who sail.
2. I don't have a load of cash to throw at yacht club membership, lessons, gear, boat, storage, maintenance etc etc.

I don't want him to miss out on something he could really enjoy, become good at and may be a positive aspect of his sport/social scene for years to come but I don't know where to start.

Any ideas?
