yahoo im insane amount of io reads

Looking through procees manager on win7 i've noticed that yahoo IM has an insane amount of io reads. 4 million + before i killed. That was about 1000 time more than skype that had been running for the same length of time and was used more than im. Anyone else notice this or know why it has such huge io?
